The system invited me to update to the new release 12.04 LTS
After the install, the following directories (used by gedit 3.4.1) were missing
~/.local/share/gtksourceview-3.0/language-specs
~/.local/share/mime/packages
These directories contain information for the markup of
I originally installed 11.10 which then upgraded itself to whatever.
The data in those dirs was indeed custom data - as required by gedit - see:
http://live.gnome.org/Gedit/NewLanguage
Fortunately, I could recover the missing files from elsewhere.

I searched the disk and the files were not found (I did include hidden
and system files), ergo the dirs + content were wiped, ergo 'they' (of
gedit) did not migrate those datas, ergo the upgrader must have been at
fault.

UUID is the preferred way to identify disks in fstab.

The drop-down menu just sits there with the "Move" entry highlighted, but no
sub-menu appears.

Yes, I am on 16.04 indeed and I am expecting the system to invite me to
upgrade to 18.04 when that is worthwhile for me to do. Am I wrong here?
I have been using Shutter and only just now noticed how to set the delay

The package "Ubuntu Software" does not have "Font Manager" available for
install while "Synaptic" does.
This is bad.
I don't mind having to learn how to deal with either, but PLEASE if both
are on offer then keep them synchronized. Alternatively, do away with
one of them.
