Thank you for updating the documentation, that's exactly what was misleading.
Just as a feedback: installing manually the metapackages listed in the
ubuntustudio-installer worked fine. The ubuntu-desktop metapackage was
probably automatically uninstalled (it is no more instlled in my
system), but
it's 2023 and this is still an issue. I'm trying with an ethernet
connection and if I trigger for it to connect automatically with a VPN
then my Ubuntu logs in with neither connected: I have to MANUALLY click
on WIRED Connection then both connects correctly.
This is incredible.

(on Xorg), Intel Graphics. No issues in 16.04 (or perhaps a tiny
delay?), but unworkable in 18.04.

(~2-3 seconds normally).

I encounter the same problem with the daily Xubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu MATE 18.04
of March 5, 2018. The connection via ethernet cable does not work unless I
disable the ipv6.
In practice I have to set the Method to Ignore in IPV6 Settings to navigate.
