[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1544880] Re: video fullscreen playback emits keys (control/key sequences) into current foreground window
Please close: not reproducible any more (EOL reached). Thanks for getting back to this and cleaning up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1544880 Title: video fullscreen playback emits keys (control/key sequences) into current foreground window Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Playing a video in full-screen mode (html5) emits keys into foreground ("ghost keyboard" inputs). These key sequences affect the currently selected/foregrounded Window, e.g. the goneme-terminal flickers the text up and down, changes window focus and inputs control characters scrambling the typed commandline. Controlled typing on the commandline is nearly impossible this way, text is garbled (see screenshot attachment). Pausing the video stops this behaviour. This happens on a fresh profile without any extensions/addons. example youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHEHPRDVEp4 I logged the keys with xev 2>&1|while /bin/true ; do read ans; echo $ans;date -Ins ;done > /tmp/xev.timestamped.log and add the output here as attachment. From the log it seems to be these type of repeating sequences (disregard beginning and end of file, since it is mouse over xev movements): 2016-02-12T10:17:24,551960729+0100 MotionNotify event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x601, 2016-02-12T10:17:24,553774616+0100 root 0xc4, subw 0x0, time 159126531, (41,126), root:(42,178), 2016-02-12T10:17:24,555947203+0100 state 0x0, is_hint 0, same_screen YES 2016-02-12T10:17:24,560815414+0100 2016-02-12T10:17:24,627034521+0100 MotionNotify event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x601, 2016-02-12T10:17:24,629079758+0100 root 0xc4, subw 0x0, time 159126618, (41,125), root:(42,177), 2016-02-12T10:17:24,631013278+0100 state 0x0, is_hint 0, same_screen YES 2016-02-12T10:17:24,632850769+0100 Currently I doo not know how to debug this further, is there a possibility to debug the video playback in chromium browser? Maybe merge this bug with #1777415, since it targets the circumvention of login, too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1759667 Title: password field unusable if display configuration changes while on screen lock Status in gnome-screensaver package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I often lose the ability to type in my password on a locked screen (gnome3), if the display configuration changes. Sometimes also the buttons are without function, not clickable with mouse or reachable with keyboard shortcuts. Plugging off the previously added display can sometimes help to recover to responsive elements, but often the password field stays unresponsive. A workaround is then to use the "change user" button, and logging into the account. This usually works and circumvents a stalled gnome-screensaver. Additionally, while testing for this bug report, I could use the desktop (which should stay locked) for quite some time (~20 seconds), before gnome-screensaver took over and kicked in again. This happened after plugging off an external display and the corresponding display settings change. The latter could be a serious issue, related to bugs about resume reported elsewhere, e.g. #1509711 since a display change can be easily forced. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1509711] Re: Screen temporarily not locked when coming out of suspend
I experience this sometimes (currently running 16.04 LTS), you can easily enlarge the time by: * high load, have processes running taking 100% CPU * a lot of used RAM * slow I/O (hard disk) E.g., on a netbook, I was regularly even able to type in commands on open shells, start or close programs. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1544880] Re: video fullscreen playback emits keys (control/key sequences) into current foreground window
It seems *not* related to video, some (but not all) fullscreen applications show the issue (e.g. plain chromium window). So it may be a gnome issue (I use gnome-flashback here). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1544880 Title: video fullscreen playback emits keys (control/key sequences) into current foreground window Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Playing a video in full-screen mode (html5) emits keys into foreground ("ghost keyboard" inputs). Mounting using sudo ($ sudo mount -t smbfs -o guest, nounix, noperm //server/share /media/share) so that cifs is used uses around 8% CPU. The difference is dramatic! [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1278429] Re: evolution-alarm-notify hangs on snooze
The issue is unfortunately hard to reproduce these days, since it happens less often than at the time of first bug report. Still appears sometimes on different installations/machines. Upstream bug report now in gnome bugzilla: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=734085 [unrelated] Unfortunetely the wiki seems to be quite dead and unmaintained, the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs page has dead links for most of the main entries ( e.g. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs to empty https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/ReportingBugs https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToFix). ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #734085 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=734085 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1278429 Title: evolution-alarm-notify hangs on snooze Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The alarm notification window becomes unresponsive on clicking snooze. Public bug reported: The search field of chromium selects the string in the search field directly into the clipboard, thereby overwriting existing content in the clipboard. With gv you cannot save to pdf (it will be eps), so I took this bash shell script with a gs command. With following process to post-process the crappy 1-pixel stuff generated by LO, I was able to get a relatively clean PDF (Fonts are not exported as fonts, but that is another topic): Save the file/export to EPS format. The EPS is pretty readable, so I remove the lines with the dots with the following awk script: ---8---fixodg2pdf.awk #!/usr/bin/awk -f # points (pc?) with the lr/ul corner being teh same {if (($1==$4) ($2==$5)) {next;} } {print} ---8- (save and chmod a+x fixodg2pdf) use it like ./fixodg2pdf.awk exported.eps fixed.eps Then use gv to open it and save as PDF. There were issues with the bounding box for me with other tools, so the last step may be up to your preferred tool. Please, can somebody fix the exports of LO? This makes the whole drawing part of LO pretty unusable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to openoffice.org in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/689349 Title: [Upstream] Draw file exported to PDF have erroneous pixel-sized dots in Acroread, not in Evince Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite: Confirmed Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “openoffice.org” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Binary package hint: openoffice.org Binary package hint: libreoffice 1) lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.10 Release: 12.10 2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-draw libreoffice-draw: Installed: 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 0 900 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal-updates/main i386 Packages 400 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal-proposed/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages apt-cache policy acroread acroread: Installed: 9.5.1-1precise1 Candidate: 9.5.1-1precise1 Version table: *** 9.5.1-1precise1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status apt-cache policy evince evince: Installed: 3.6.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 3.6.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 3.6.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What is expected to happen is when one performs at the Terminal: cd ~/Desktop wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/689349/+attachment/1763870/+files/classnetwork.odg unoconv --listener unoconv -f pdf classnetwork.odg acroread classnetwork.pdf is it looks as it does in Evince. 4) What happens instead is acroread displays erroneous pixel-sized dots as per screenshot https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/689349/+attachment/1763844/+files/garbagescreenshot.png , while evince does not. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1081297] [NEW] metacity crashes and xinerama reconfigures screens
Public bug reported: I have regular flickering screens (xinerama re-initialises them) in a dual-screen setup under gnome-2d, as can be seen in .xsession-errors and Xorg.0.log. Sometimes metacity crashes then, as it was the case recently, when I had verbose logging-mode on. Last 1000 lines of the log before the crash are here: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1373239/ Line 764 looks to me like the reconfiguration due to a 'flicker'. Console output of metacity (started from there with METACITY_VERBOSE=1 METACITY_USE_LOGFILE=1 metacity --replace) metacity:ERROR:core/boxes.c:1165:meta_rectangle_edge_aligns: code should not be reached and there is /var/crash/_usr_bin_metacity.1000.crash which I will attach. I do not know, if the two problems are really related (metacity crash, xinerama re-init), but it looked like (happened at the same time). Any debugging hints to find the reason for the xinerama re-init are welcome. Sometimes it is impossible to work due to high frequency of re-inits. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 962078] Re: thunderbird flickers colors randomly (all widgets)
Thanks Chris, this was the reason. Setting that var to false stops this behaviour (Edit-Preferences-Advanced-[Config Editor...] for the curious). I never changed/touched this manually, though. The flag seems to be not recognised in earlier versions, since by reverting to an older version it did not flicker. Restarting X had no effect, Iam running on gnome3 here. Screenshot attached. Thank you for looking at it. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 962078] Re: thunderbird flickers colors randomly (all widgets)
A downgrade to dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/thunderbird_10.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.11.10.1_amd64.deb solves this issue, so regression must be in between. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962078 Title: thunderbird flickers colors randomly (all widgets) Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Thunderbird window elements change colors randomly, leading to flickering rainbow effect.
