[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1653555] Re: Language settings stuck for KDE apps

2017-01-10 Thread dronus
I made no mistake, I deleted arabic from the language list AFTER switching back to german, relogin and rebooting, hoping at each step that the apps would switch back to german. Only after all that fails, I removed arabic from the list, with still no effect. So there is definitely a bug in

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1653555] Re: Language settings stuck for KDE apps

2017-01-10 Thread dronus
Also it has nothing to do with missing language support: Kaffeine for example, which was arabic before, now switched to English after my fix. But it sports some language settings in it's own help menu, which can be used to switch to german. So this was no fallback behaviour, but just buggy

Just a guess: Using 'ar' of de_DE:ar:en_GB:en could be explained by alphabetic ordering of the languages somewhere. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to language-selector in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653555

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1653555] Re: Language settings stuck for KDE apps

I already fixed the problem. The locale indeed showed a remaining 'ar' at LANGUAGE, like: LANGUAGE=de_DE:ar:en_GB:en After exhaustive search, I found this LANGUAGE definition in ~/.pam_environment. I changed it there, logged out and in again, and now KDE apps are in english (despite the main

I thought Metacity is the component that has to deal with inter- application interaction. Seems I am wrong? I already know that a bug in nautlius is the trigger of the problem, however no application should be able to lock drag and drop state on its own without any way to exit it. So the only
