Title:
  pulseaudio bluetooth problems with profiles

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete
Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Pulseaudio has been super unstable since ubuntu 20.04.
bluetooth has multiple connectivity issues which sometimes can only be
resolved by unpairing and then pairing again.

A big problem comes when a bluetooth headset is connected. Sometimes
it does not show up as well in the sound settings or the wrong profile
is shown. Sometimes I try changing the profile it works, but other
times it does not alter anything - e.g. changing from hfp to a2dp
shows the change but the profile remains. If I switch settings tabs
and go back to sound settings the old profile remains.

** Summary changed:

- pulseaudio very unstable
+ pulseaudio bluetooth problems connecting

** Tags added: apport-collected package-from-proposed

** Description changed:

Pulseaudio has been super unstable since ubuntu 20.04.
bluetooth has multiple connectivity issues which sometimes can only be
resolved by unpairing and then pairing again.

e..g Very frequently if I turn on the bluetooth headset and hit connect
on the bluetooth settings, it shows that it has connected, but my
headset turns off and the setting shows that it disconnects after 5-10
seconds. This can happen multiple times. What makes it work for sure is
if the bluetooth headset is entered in pairing mode and then you try to
  connect using the bluetooth settings

  please see the attached log.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1892814] [NEW] pulseaudio very unstable

2020-08-24 Thread Martin Gerdzhev
Public bug reported:

Pulseaudio has been super unstable since ubuntu 20.04.
bluetooth has multiple connectivity issues which sometimes can only be resolved
by unpairing and then pairing again.
Microphones randomly stop working until changing the active microphone multiple
times. Today my mic stopped working 3 times.
Sometimes cannot switch bluetooth headset profiles. Or it says that it switched
it but when you click on a different tab and go back, it reverts to the old
setting.

I see some warnings/errors in the logs that could be related:
gsd-media-keys[2948]: Unable to get default sink
gsd-media-keys[2948]: Unable to get default source

kernel: Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for unknown connection handle 65

pulseaudio[2489]: q overrun, queuing locally

please see the attached log.

** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Attachment added: "journal log"

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1873403] Re: [nvidia] Screen turns off when trying to set some fractional scaling values

2020-07-23 Thread Martin Gerdzhev
Scaling (and second monitor rotation) now works for me as well 20.04 nvidia
2070 super.
One problem however is If I have the scaling set at e.g. 175% full screen apps
(games) don't show up full screen, but only take up a portion of the screen.

Title:
[nvidia] Screen turns off when trying to set some fractional scaling

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix
Status in mutter source package in Focal:
  Fix Committed
Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers source package in Focal:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  [ Impact ]

When the nvidia driver is installed, the screen turns off when trying
to set some fractional scaling values like 150%. And it stays off even
after rebooting and logging in again.

And from ssh I can see there's no current mode set anymore (just like
  in bug 1869750):

  $ xrandr
  Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 960 x 600, maximum 16384 x 16384
DVI-I-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DVI-I-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-1 connected primary (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
     1920x1200 59.95 + 59.88

  [ Test case ]

  In a Nvidia system:
  - From g-c-c enable fractional scaling
  - Set all the available fractional scaling values and ensure they work
+ In any case the screen should be turned off

  [ Regression potential ]

Wrong screen size is set and panning might be enabled.

Title:
  ubuntu 20.04 monitor scaling broken

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I have 2 4k monitors and a 3rd with a lower res. When changing the scaling of
the 4k monitors to 150 - 200%, they just turn off . This used to work on 19.01.
If I set them to 125, then I get one big virtual monitor that I can scroll with
the mouse and the screen positions change. When putting them back in the
correct place, the scaled monitors turn off again.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1874217] Re: Dual monitor setup with secondary monitor in portrait-right mode cause tiled windows to occupy 1.5 monitors

Bug description:
I will provide below a screen capture. I think this bug is related to
  this one : https://bugs.launchpad.net/dash-to-dock/+bug/1869571

I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 AMD64 fully up to date and freshly rebooted.

I use dual screen : the main screen is on the left side (32"), the
secondary screen (19") is at right and in portrait mode (rotated
right). The window are improperly growed : they extend from full main
screen to half the "witdh" of the secondary screen. Additionnally, the
« pop-up » menus (eg. from settings) do not appear at the right place
(see screen capture in comment). The problem disappears if I revert
the orientation of secondary screen from « portrait turned right » to
  « landscape ». I do have gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock in version
67ubuntu20.04.5, but still got the problem.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1847570] Re: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login

2019-12-29 Thread Martin Gerdzhev
I have 2 displayport monitors that have no speakers and this is
happening all the time. It also happens when the resolution changes or
the monitor scaling is changed.

Title:
PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login

Status in PulseAudio:
  New
Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in pulseaudio source package in Eoan:
  Fix Committed
Status in pulseaudio source package in Focal:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  [Impact]

On my freshly installed eoan system I have two output devices:
  - HDMI/DisplayPort 2 - GK208 ...
  - Line Out - Family 17h ...

When I login into the system pulseaudio always select the "wrong"
one (HDMI) and I need to go to gnome-settings/Sound/Output Device
and switch to "line out". This applies to every login/logout not
  just reboots.

  [Test Case]

  0. Plug in a monitor that supports HDMI audio (one that appears in
  your Settings>Sound)

  1. Log out and in again.

Verify the default audio device in Settings is still speakers or
headphones. Not the monitor's HDMI audio device.

  [Regression Potential]

Low. The fix proposed just reverts to the same code used in PulseAudio
12 and earlier. It has also been released and verified on focal
  already.

  [Workaround]

  Comment out:

  load-module module-switch-on-port-available
  load-module module-switch-on-connect

  from /etc/pulse/default.pa
