Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 897835] Re: Corrupt login screen

2014-01-14 Thread Per-Inge
I replaced a Geforce GTX 520 card with the Geforce GTS 250 card in one
of my computers with Ubuntu 13.10 and the Nouveau driver. The cards
behaved in the same way. The login screen worked as expected.
You may close the bug.

Per-Inge, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any

so, could you please test for this with the latest development release

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

 apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
 would not be helpful.

 Thank you for your understanding.

2014-01-09 Thread Per-Inge
I will check. I am currently not using this card, but I will install it
and check.
I think the problem is related to this specific graphic card a Geforce
GTS 250.

Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 897835] Re: Corrupt login screen

2012-02-17 Thread Per-Inge
In my case I think it's related to the graphic card an Nvidia Geforce
GTS250. There are some problems with this card. First the Nomodeset
option is needed to install Ubuntu both in Oneiric and Precise. Then I
have to boot in recovery mode to be able to login and get the system
working, else I get the corrupt login screen. When the proprietary
Nvidia driver is installed the system behaves OK.

For the moment I am using an AMD Radeon 5450 with the Gallium driver and
that works OK.
