So it appears you lost rw permissions on /dev/dri/card0. That is
primarily an issue with the login/session manager (as it should be
setting up the permissions when you login). If you are a member of the
video group, you can fixup the issue with 'sudo chgrp video
/dev/dri/card0 ; sudo chmod g+rw
It does indeed sound like it is storing the i915_error_state and then
keeps on trying to report a new bug without deleting it.

backup tools, VLV, Mplayer, will still make gvfs-smb fail. and Rhythmbox will

Having a .Xmodmap file in my home directory under Xubuntu 12.10 causes 1
or my CPU cores to use 100% on startup for every login. xfsettingsd uses
quite some CPU as well. When I suspend it, X stops using all the CPU and
resuming it makes X using all the CPU again. After a few minutes all is

For those who need menemonics (alt+...) but are not fussed about the

I am experiencing the same problem. Using an p4p800 motherboard with AGP
nvidia card, FX5200. I can use nouveau, but that is far to slow and
doesn't give good resolution (24 inch philips diaply 1920 * 1200). On
ubuntu 12.04 i used nvidia driver 173 with modified xorg.conf which
resutled in good
I found out what the reason is: I was using Ubuntu with German language,
and the month names which contain Umlauts, like Jänner and März were
broken in the sense, that ls -l would write 'M�' instead of 'Mär', and
the libreoffice script has the following section:

In gnome-system-monitor, in 'Resources' tab, there's a field showing the
current network Tx rate. The field name is 'Sent'. Should be named
'Transmitting' to be more consistent with 'Receiving' field, or at least
'Sending' (indicative verb).
