Same issue for my Logitech USB headset. The problem appeared in 14.04
LTS. Before that release the feature worked by accident or by
specification :-)
Now, after plugging in USB headset to answer skype, I have to go to
audio preference and change 2 settings for Audio Input / recording
devices and

Worked for me, just had to slightly modify script to fit to my setup (mic: grep
usb also gave usb input device in my webcam with buitin mic). - that WA works
good.

the format-option in the line 62 from ps axc -o user,command to ps
axc -o user:XXX,command, where XXX is the length of your login+1
