There are many ways to contribute to the project without commit. And
it is best to start from no expectation of commit bits rather than
trying to earn them.
When I started contributing to Solr, I did not ever expect to become a
committer. So, I worked on things around it. Blogging, commenting on

Hi,
I have an idea that I would love to get feedback on to see if it makes
sense, feasible, has been tried, is currently being done by somebody,
etc.
My example is based on Apache Solr, but I think it may affect a lot of
Apache projects. We are all giants offering shoulders to somebody

Is there a guide on the kind of talks ApacheCons look for (45 minutes
is all I found so far). I haven't been to an ApacheCon before, but may
be interesting in submitting an Apache Solr talk (have presented at
other confs). I usually do beginner talks, but don't know if this is
from-zero,
Just to provide links:

(not Solr) based search of issues for several projects. Very deep
understanding of the domain. Adding more is probably not that hard.

wikis,
I am an Apache Solr committer and would be happy to be part of such project.
My primary focus within Solr community is onboarding, training and
general beginner-orientation. I would be happy to do Solr intro course
to any Apache Solr committer and contribute to this project on Solr
issues such as
I haven't done this before, but would be happy to help out. I have
presented at various conferences a number of times, so know the
submitting part of the equation.

Alex.

Hello,
I just got accepted as a committer to an ASF project (Apache
Lucene/Solr (Yay!)).
So, I am getting the welcome emails and trying to follow the
instructions. And hitting minor issues, which I would like to report.
Just not sure to where.
So, for the "Welcome to ASF" email, the most ironic
