Hi -

I cannot find it either. We need to remove his vote. That does not change the
winner and only swaps the 3r and 4th place.

OK, well it doesn't affect the outcome, but Tom, can you forward your vote

I think we can count it even if it didn't hit the list on time. At least,
it is close enough for me.

I cannot find record of Tom's vote in my email or on lists.a.o. It is bugging
me because that means I wasn't sending out the right totals yesterday. And we

Om abstained which means 6 points missed from the total of 90 possible with 15
ballots.
Adding the two who did not have a third pace gives 8 missing points and
therefore 82 points is the correct overall total.

Royale it is in a squeaker.

So looks like there's 14 voters their not 13? Was Tom missed in the first count?

The total votes (14*6 == 84) still doesn’t tally with the total votes in that
spreadsheet i.e. 82 with 3 people only placing 2 votes it still seems off by
one? Given the top 4 choices are separated by 1 vote in that spreadsheet that
may be important and change the result.

Carlos and Peter both only voted for two options.

Even if we’re off by one, Royale is the clear winner. (I get 18 votes as well.)

I don’t see a reason to be concerned or give Piotr more work. If you are
concerned, you can double-check the tally. Make sure you get Erik’s final vote
which might be in a separate thread in your email.

I think you may need to double check the count.

> Royale 18
> Limber (Limbr) 13
> Bead (Beads)11
> Braid 10
> Arise 9
> Boja 8
> Bend 3
> Crown2
> Action1
> Strand0
> Boinga 0

If 13 voted this should add up to 13*(3+2+1) = 78 the above only adds up to 75
so there seems to be a missing vote or two. I think only one person didn’t give
3 votes which would make 77?

From a quick count I’m seeing different totals to you. Do you mind putting in
it in a google spreadsheet so people can double check the results.

Thanks,
Justin

2017-09-20 Thread Alex Harui
Well, it isn't official until the board approves, hopefully tomorrow.

I updated the board resolution, and modified the board report and added
"Apache Royale will take responsibility for
what is now Apache FlexJS and related repos."

I also updated the PODLINGNAMESEARCH JIRA issue.
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PODLINGNAMESEARCH-132

Thanks,
-Alex

That tied Limber with Royale at 13 each. Beads now has 11.

Royale and Limber have now been mentioned on 6 out of 11 votes.
Boja and Beads have been mentioned 5 times.

My new favorite is Limber, but I still like Bend very much. If I can

2017-09-19 Thread Alex Harui
Hi Deepak,

Anyone can vote. Only PMC member votes can be used in the result totals,
but we always want to know what non-PMC members of our community think.
It assures us to know that there is alignment between the PMC and others.

Thanks,
-Alex

I'm not sure if voting is only from PMC members.

Anyway, Royale is awesome name. Simple, yet rich and powerful just like
Flex.

Re: [DISCUSS] (was Re: [VOTE] What should be the new Project Name for Proposed fork of FlexJS?)

2017-09-19 Thread Alex Harui
Justin voted.

Now we have Royale and Limber tied again with 13 points.
Beads has 11, Braids as 10. Arise has 9.

Royale has been mentioned on 7 out of 12 votes.
Limber on 6 out of 12.

Limber still has the most first-place votes with 3. Royale and Beads have
2.

Thanks,
-Alex

You can change your vote until the vote closes, but your vote alone can
move Bend enough to make a difference. You could actually increase the
vote gap between Royale and Beads and Boja.

Re: [DISCUSS] (was Re: [VOTE] What should be the new Project Name for Proposed fork of FlexJS?)

2017-09-19 Thread Carlos Rovira
Hi Alex,

about your question in the other thread if I would help in logo and website
work: I commented that I need to be "connected" and "inspired" with the new
name, since is a huge task and effort just in the same way I was when I
contributed to MDL UI set.

I didn't want to comment too much about the other options (just when I
though I had some valuable opinión a side from my subjective inclinations),
but I must say that I don't see our project with a brand like Beads, Limber
or other options exposed, I feel more damage than benefits (but again this
is totally subjective).

But as well I think that should not incline the balance in favor of my
proposal. I'm completely done for it, but I think others should buy it and
believe in it. I even prefer to stick with "FlexJS" since when I first
started proposing a name change, it was for something that was a huge
meaning, and sorry, but can't find that in other proposals.

As I said, is a significant task to design website, logo, and so on and to
make that, due to the creative nature of the task, you need to be
completely trapped by the name, the meaning and the rest to get the most of
it, or we'll end with something worst.

Re: [DISCUSS] (was Re: [VOTE] What should be the new Project Name for Proposed fork of FlexJS?)

2017-09-19 Thread Alex Harui
Piotr changed his vote.

It dropped Royale back to 12 points, putting Limber in the lead at 13.
Arise is now third at 9 points. Beads, Boja, Braid all have 8.

Royale and Limber both have been mentioned on 6 out of 11 votes.

Trademarks responded that, without thinking about it too much, they aren't
concerned about these small projects on GitHub, so if we end up with
Royale, it won't be quickly blocked by Trademarks.

Re: [DISCUSS] (was Re: [VOTE] What should be the new Project Name for Proposed fork of FlexJS?)

2017-09-19 Thread Alex Harui
Dave changed his abstention to a vote.

That tied Limber with Royale at 13 each. Beads now has 11.

Royale and Limber have now been mentioned on 6 out of 11 votes.
Boja and Beads have been mentioned 5 times.

My new favorite is Limber, but I still like Bend very much. If I can
break
a tie, I'll change my vote (I can do that, before the VOTE closes,
right?)

Re: [DISCUSS] (was Re: [VOTE] What should be the new Project Name for Proposed fork of FlexJS?)

2017-09-19 Thread Alex Harui
Erik changed his vote. That put Limber in the lead over Royale, 13 vs 12.
However, several folks are concerned about limber.com being an adult
site. Limber has been mentioned on 6 votes.

Beads and Boja have 9 votes each now. Boja and Royale have been mentioned
5 times, Beads 4 times.

 What a dilemma!

 I've seen 10 votes and 2 abstentions. I haven't voted yet. I wanted
to
see what the trend was first.

If you assign 3 points to first place, 2 to second, and 1 to third,
Royale
has the lead at 12 points, but barely: Bead, Boja and Limber have 10.
Boja has been mentioned more than any other name (6 times), but 3 of
those
are third place votes. Royale and Limber have been mentioned 5 times,
Beads 4 times. Beads has the most first place votes (3). Royale,
Limber
have 2 first place votes each.

In short, I don't think there is a clear winner. It will depend on
how
you count the votes. And we can't default back to FlexJS either given
the
 other vote.

I know some folks mentioned that Royale is associated with low-quality
foods, but does anybody think choosing Royale will be a major
hindrance?
There is a possible conflict because some other Github project is
already
using Royale [1] for a JS framework. Does anybody see that as a show
stopper? I think I will write to trademarks@ and try to get their
 opinion.

Carlos, will you help with a new website regardless of which name is
chosen or only if it is Royale (or Crown)?

Is anybody adamantly against Beads, Boja or Limber? After reading
this
mornings posts, I'm leaning away from limber. The spell checker
redirect
 issue is worrisome.

 Thoughts?

[DISCUSS] (was Re: [VOTE] What should be the new Project Name for Proposed fork of FlexJS?)

2017-09-19 Thread Alex Harui
I did change the subject to discuss, but may be not enough for Gmail. I
changed it again.

You can change your vote until the vote closes, but your vote alone can
move Bend enough to make a difference. You could actually increase the
vote gap between Royale and Beads and Boja.
