Hi, Trevor;
Excellent! I will be in Santa Clara next week, but have no other travel
plans this month so am happy to meet up. Let's do dinner or something - I've
got a ton of great recommendations suitable for any taste :-)
If you don't mind, please shoot me an email offlist with your travel plans
and what inventory you have on hand and we'll take it from there.

I have the stuff from GOTO Chicago (banners, some stickers, some
pamphlets). I'll be in STL in mid May and can hand off to Dan if that helps
(or I can ship them).

2018-04-22 Thread Melissa Warnkin
Thanks, KAM. I need all the good karma (and prayers!) I can get!! ;) Dad had a
really bad day yesterday and we ended up back in the ER; thankfully, he was
released after four hours and has been doing better last night and today. I
still have to do his dialysis and everything, but he's better today than
yesterday. I pray and hold my breath every time I have to take his sugar level!
<,deep breath!>
Anyway, enough about that...NOW...I know you were gone from us for awhile with
health issues, but come on...I didn't know you were unable to walk, talk, or
see. What the what?!?! Thank God you are better! Yea, this is all new to me, so
I need to find a caregiver group to join, along with other support groups to
help me with all of the different issues I'm facing with being the caregiver
for BOTH of my parents! I do have a representative from "Visiting Nurses" (or
whatever they're called) coming on Tuesday to speak with me about how they can
help with dad. So, that's a start.
I'm so glad you're better. Big hugs.

2018-04-20 Thread Melissa Warnkin
 Hey,
Sorry for the delay in responding; I've been dealing with my dad being in ICU
as a result of a stroke and now dealing with the after care and sifting through
over 1,200 emails.
Soo...long and short of it:
I used to handle all of the logistics for OSCON. Someone will need to fill out
the application; if approved, someone will need to handle the paperwork - all
the other logistics will be in the approval letter (ordering booth,
electricity, etc. for the booth). You'll also need to order swag to have it
delivered to the address that they will provide in the approval letter. You'll
have to coordinate the swag arrival/shipping out through the conference
shipping coordinator, the name escapes me right now (just started my dad's 4pm
dialysis session), but it will be on the application approval paperwork.
I still have the honking 8x8 wall banner and a table skirt that I'm happy to
ship to whomever is taking lead. I believe both are current w/the newest logo.
After OSCON, they can be shipped to whomever will be handling these items.
Thanks,~M

2018-04-19 Thread Trevor Grant
Hey all,

I've been on vacation in China (e.g. no gmail access) and going through all
my emails.

I have two banner. Happy to hand them off after GOTO.

I can help setup as well. I've added a table for people to add their names and
availability on the cwiki including shifts for setup and teardown.

Daniel - I can help setup and tear down as well as potentially receive
a shipment (staying at a friends house so will have a 'real' address).

I've had it in my mind that I should try documenting things as much as
possible, so I started a little blurb about this on comdev wiki as a child of
the howto page:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/COMDEV/Booth+Duty

Patches welcome - particularly around who has materials and how we might have
materials shipped.

Any pointers in particular? The only folks I could think to ask are Sharan (who
has likely already seen this), Sally or maybe Sam?

I haven't seen an update about GOTO Con Chicago regarding materials (will
follow up there) - if Trevor has some landed roller banners or other materials,
I could get them from him before heading off to Portland.

Receiving shipment of whatever swag we hope to have there. Being the
official on-site contact that the event will speak to if necessary.

I think that covers it.

Any chance you already have banners and stuff in addition to the swag
you mention? If not... do we know who does?

We will need to track this stuff down. Melissa has traditionally tracked
it, and I'm not sure where it ended up.

From the replies on this thread, I have the following names:
Myrle Krantz
Nate McCall
Daniel Ruggeri

Since the conference is a two day event, I think having two more names

critical mass.

Indeed. The more volunteers you have, the less work it is for the lead.

I've filled out the application form, and will let you know when we know
more. Thanks for stepping up for this.

I don't know if I'll be there, and if I am I'll be lead on the CentOS
booth, and so won't have much bandwidth. I'm glad to help with the
swag and contact and whatever, but I can't do much actually on site.

We need someone to lead, and a half-dozen people to staff, and then we
can say yes. For folks who haven't run a booth before, it's
surprisingly hard work standing around all day. :) So we need more
than just one person to step up for this.

We have been offered space at OSCon again this year. I am still not sure
whether I will be there myself, but if you will, and if you're willing
to spend an hour or two in a booth representing the ASF, please let me
know. (Respond to dev@community.apache.org please.)

In particular, if you are willing to be the booth lead (ie, wrangle a
booth schedule, be primary contact with the event, receive swag
shipment, and arrange return shipment at the end of the event) I need to
hear from you ASAP.

Thanks.
