thanks for your interest and I've added you with admin role. Do you plan to

We're still looking for someone you can take the 'main admin' role in pagure,
so there's actually the entry marked as orphan.

I've just tested updating from yesterday's metadata and it took me about
2.9 MBytes (vs. about 61 MBytes without zchunk support) to download.

Seems to be working as it should. LGTM =)

Yeah sorry I made the assumption that "the seed" is already flagged
with btrfstune. If it weren't flagged as seed and is rw mounted,
replication does still happen however the first device has its
signature wiped, and the second device inherits the same fs UUID. The
use case here is live migration from one device to another.

In the seed/sprout use case the seed is not wiped (so it can be an
on-going source), and the sprout gets a new fs UUID assigned.

Call for zchunk repodata testers

2019-01-16 Thread Jonathan Dieter
Just a heads up Rawhide has had zchunked metadata for almost three
weeks, and I'd greatly appreciate some more testing on the client side
before we finish pushing the client changes to Rawhide.

If you're running Rawhide, are willing to test, and have backups of
libdnf and librepo, please enable the COPR by running:

dnf copr enable jdieter/dnf-zchunk
dnf update librepo libdnf

At this point all tools using libdnf will default to zchunked metadata
if it's available.

If the second day's repository download size for Rawhide is less than
54MB, you'll know everything's working correctly.

--- Details, feel free to ignore ---

I've been testing it on Rawhide for the last three weeks or so, and the
minimum I've downloaded has been about 1.2MB (updating every day),
while the max today was about 7.9MB (haven't updated for over a week).
So far, I haven't hit any bugs, but I've only been regularly testing
DNF in the terminal. I did do initial testing with PackageKit and
microdnf, and they worked fine too.

Currently only primary.xml, filelists.xml and other.xml are zchunked,
but I've just finished extending zchunk support to all metadata types
in createrepo_c, and the changes should be making their way to Rawhide
sometime in the not-to-distant future.

Again, a huge thank you to everyone who's helped with this, and
especially to Daniel Mach for reviewing the large invasive patches
required to make all this work, Neal Gompa for helping push this
change, and Kevin Fenzi for flipping the switch to start generating
zchunked metadata in Rawhide.

Ok, a necessary condition for creating a sprout is setting the seed
parameter on the source filesystem (via btrfstune). [1]

(with the seed parameter a mount of that FS is automatically read-only)

Thus, this works for me:

# cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/nbd0p4 tmp
# btrfstune -S 1/dev/mapper/tmp
# mount -o noatime /dev/mapper/tmp /mnt/tmp
# mount: /mnt/tmp: WARNING: device write-protected, mounted read-only.
# btrfs device add /dev/nbd1 /mnt/tmp
Performing full device TRIM /dev/nbd1 (2.80GiB) ...
# mount -o remount,rw /mnt/tmp
# time btrfs device remove /dev/mapper/tmp /mnt/tmp
# umount /mnt/tmp

Best regards
Georg Sauthoff

I'm not really sure, but I've started to look again at packaging hcc.

The main issues are:

- Lots of hard-coded paths in the source to /opt/hsa
- Bundles its own llvm, clang, and lld.

[HEADS UP] Removal of ldconfig scriptlets

2019-01-16 Thread Igor Gnatenko
https://ignatenkobrain.fedorapeople.org/needless-scriptlets.txt

Here's the list of packages which have dependency on /sbin/ldconfig
with their respective maintainers for packages which do not install
any files in /etc/ld.so.conf.d/.

During this weekend, I'm going to clean all those packages to switch
to the %ldconfig_scriptlets macro (which expands to something only on
EPEL).

Feel free to drop unneeded scriptlets before that date if you'd like
to not have some cruft in your spec file.

Thanks for attention!

That is correct till RHEL-8.

That is correct.

Rebuilds for libcrypt.so.2 have finished. (was: F30 System-Wide Change Proposal: Fully remove deprecated and unsafe functions from libcrypt)

2019-01-16 Thread Björn 'besser82' Esser
Almost all packages (see the list at the very end of this mail), that
needed a rebuild for the change [1] have been rebuilt and are linking
against `libcrypt.so.2` now.

Before and during the rebuild I've applied small patches to several
packages to fixup unrelated FTBFS.

The cockpit and community-mysql packages were rebuilt with testsuites
temporarily disabled, as they were FTBFS with testsuite even before
starting the rebuilds for the change in libxcrypt for other reasons.

The mesos and trafficserver packages are FTBFS since Fedora 25 and have
NOT been rebuilt successfully as expected.

Please test your package *BEFORE* the mass-rebuild in about two weeks
from today and report problems / bugs related to this change on Bugzilla
against the libxcrypt package of the Fedora component. Your bug should
also block rhbz# 1666033, so I can track everything much easier in one
place.

Can you get on Signal with me?

2019-01-16 Thread Sarup Banskota
Hi Development,

I'm using a new tool called Signal that helps founders find the right VCs and
helps VCs attract the right deals. A lot of what powers that is who you're
connected to. If we connect, it'll help both of us use our Founder-VC network
better.

Please confirm our connection:

The crash was caused by a patch that changed libperl.so's ABI. I reverted the
offending patch in perl-5.28.1-431.fc30. Only the following packages were
built with the broken perl:

collectd-5.8.1-2.fc30
cyrus-imapd-3.0.8-5.fc30
genders-1.22-20.fc30
nbdkit-1.9.10-1.fc30
perl-Crypt-OpenSSL-X509-1.812-1.fc30
perl-Devel-Cover-1.31-1.fc30
perl-FCGI-0.78-11.fc30
perl-5.28.1-431.fc30

I verified none of them uses the changed interface. Thus I conclude there is
no need of rebuilding them.

At any rate, an affected build should complain on missing PL_WARN_ALL or
PL_WARN_NONE symbols with the corrected perl-5.28.1-431.fc30. A fix is simply
rebuilding the package.

Note: If you received this mail directly you (co)maintain one of the affected

retire your depending package to avoid broken dependencies, otherwise your

Remarks: Some packages got retired already but are not yet blocked. There are

Please have a look at this separate change proposal [1]. It is
discussed here [2].

Basically the named unsafe functions are subject to be changed in the
compat library to some no-function stubs which still guarantee to be
compliant to POSIX and other standarts, so "Average Joe" users do not
face that security problem even when installing the compat package.

The bugs are raised not against the runtime library but against a command-
line development tool. When unrealistic arguments are given there is a memory
allocation failure.

perl-libs-4:5.28.1-430.fc30 is broken

2019-01-16 Thread Petr Pisar
I "fixed" perl in Rawhide yesterday (perl-libs-4:5.28.1-430.fc30) and it
causes segfaults in some cases (especially when using Tk). I'm debugging it
right now in the hope I will find the cause and the missing changes from
blead. If I don't, I will revert the patch till the end of today.
