Hi I'm here to report a problem i have with XFree 2.4.23 I've setted up a box with X and some WM and all was ok. When i unplugged my mouse from the machine i noticed a slowdown in X loading time. The logcreatedina -verbose 10 mode was only reporting a lot of: select returned 0select returned 0select returned 0 and so on. now, is possibile to modify this log-routine to report the problem in a "standard" log too? And is possible to have a write like: Warning: mouse not found instead of the "select returned 0"? Thanxa lot Tomcat
i810: X dies upon switching a text console
Hi! I've compiled entire CVS tree from 26.02 and there seem to be a problem with switching between virtual terminals in linux. I'm running SuSE 8.1 installation on a P4 box with 1Gb ram and 845G integrated graphic chip. Kernel version is 2.4.19 (shipped with suse 8.1) The tail of the FFree86.log looks like that: Error in I830WaitLpRing(), now is 147633051, start is 147631050 pgetbl_ctl: 0x3ff60001 pgetbl_err: 0x49 ipeir: 0 iphdr: 0 LP ring tail: ee10 head: 0 len: 0 start 0 eir: 0 esr: 10 emr: ff7b instdone: ffc0 instpm: 0 memmode: 0 instps: 0 hwstam: ier: 0 imr: iir: 0 space: 70120 wanted 131064 Fatal server error: lockup When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send the full server output, not just the last messages. This can be found in the log file /var/log/XFree86.0.log. Please report problems to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The entire server log file is also atached. Re: i810: X dies upon switching to a text console
I'm quite fine over here with 4.3.0 CVS on SuSE-8.1. I set #define NothingOutsideProjectRoot YES I'm recompiling X now to see if this helps in 'site.def' and installed the whole thing over the existing /usr/X11R6/ directory. I did the same. Actually, I had another problem, reasons for which I have not checked yet: after replacing X xdm refuses to start, but startx works fine. I also patched the DRM kernel sources according to the stuff in 'os-support/'. I did not do that. Can those crashes occur because of misunderstandings between X's i810 driver and kernel's framebuffer driver? I just forgot to activate PAM (see other posting), forgive my illiterance, but what is PAM? Regards, Max ___ Devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/devel
Re: Accelerated DGA with i810 ?
I've just committed a fix for this. The driver was incorrectly testing for acceleration being enabled when the DGA capabilities get initialised. That's great news! Thanks for that. Do I have to compile the whole CVS tree or there is a way to patch the i810 driver for 4.2.0? Cheerz, Max ___ Devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/devel
Re: Accelerated DGA with i810 (works now!)
Hi! first good news: it works! At least vmware does not complain and scrolling is indeed fast. However, I've just started the new X for the first time and did not do much testing. Shall I expect some bugs/issues to appear or RC2 is already reasonably clean? The 4.2.0 i810 driver doesn't even support the 845G, so I'm not sure what you mean. Nope, I was using 4.2.0 from SuSE, which was capable to work with my 845G (probably suse 4.2.0 is patched or whatever), but I've also tried one of the binary releases of 4.2.99. I'm assuming you're using the CVS version, and that's where the fix is. If you're not using the CVS version, then you can probably find the patch via cvsweb.xfree86.org. I did the complete cvs pull and compiled everything from scratch. Took a while :-) Best regards, Max ___ Devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/devel
Re: Accelerated DGA with i810 ?
Hi List, me again. Just wondering is there anybody around who could point me in the right direction? I'm suffering from 82845G/GL chipset and suffering badly. I do will to make experiment, compile experimental drivers, participate in debugging, etc., but I need some guidance, at least at the start. I'm quite fit with C/C++ programming, but have a little experience with both X and device driver development, so I cannot (re)write the i810 driver myself, sorry. Is there anybody who is in charge of i810 driver development, who could give me a hint on what's wrong and where to start? The problem is that I need vmware in full-screen mode badly and go-and-by-another-card is not an option -- that's the office PC with on-board adapter and I'll have difficulties explaining to my boss why would I need the second graphic card. Any help is appreciated. Max Zaitsev -- Forwarded Message -- Subject: [XFree86] Accelerated DGA with i810 ? Date: Wednesday 05 February 2003 02:24 pm From: Max Zaitsev [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi List. I'm having troubles with vmware, which claims it cannot detect any acceleration in DGA mode, which is needed for full-screen operation. As a result, the full-screen mode is awfully slow... I'm currently using XFree 4.2.0, but I've also tried 4.2.99 snapshot. My questions are: 1. Is it XFree or i810 driver problem, or is it vmware, which fails to detect acceleration, when actually it's there? 2. Are there tools/code examples which would test DGA capabilities? 3. If there is no acceleration for DGA in the official i810 driver implementation are there any unofficial drivers around in the net which would have that support? ___ Devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/devel ___ Devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/devel ___ Devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/devel
