there is a "wireless repeater" function available in the "develop" version
2.3.0.1 for the Fon2202 which should work?
To be found under "internet settings" next to dhcp/static/ppoe

Removed in 2.3.6 as it's not so tested as a DDwrt or Gargoyle and Fon has
moved on from the much proofed Atheros/madwifi to the Ralink in SIMPL/N; but
allways nice if people like you can test it and provide feedback :-)

The last remaining problem is the quality of the cam - especially in the

* or let a simple lightbulb run at dark or does the horse require a
"dark" period?
* or get a webcam that has IR leds... still B/W imagery but if the Horse
dislikes 'daytime' for this event...

Okay, Steven - here's the story about my little project:

My wife got a horse which is pregnant. She moves to a stable
near our house. Approximately 200meters direct line and she wanted
an surveillance for the birth. For me, the best and most interesting
solution was the point-to-point connection with low-cost equipment.
So I bought two Fonera 2202 which were pimped to dd-wrt 24preSP2 and
two 18dbi Yagi antennas.

Costs some hours to get the dd-wrt image on the foneras, but in the
end the solution works perfectly. I got about 12-18Mbits and the
connection is really stable. I had no time so far to make improvements
and calibrate the both antennas for 100%. I'm more than satisfied with
the bandwith.

So we got a win-win situation. I had a nice project with an interesting
result and my wife got her "HorseTV". ;-)))

The last remaining problem is the quality of the cam - especially in the
dark at night. But I fear, when I want to have really good quality I
need something like Mobotix or so - that's not low cost at all. ;-(

Greetings,
Christian

Re: [fonosfera] Serial Cable Fonera 2202 -SOLVED-

2010-04-27 Thread christian
Hi Guys,

first of all: Thanks for the support.
It runs!

The right (working) connections for me are:

Fonera : USB Uart
GND : X1 and X5
RX : X2
TX : X3
3V3 : not needed!!!

So I got now full serial console access ;-)

After that: http://www.dd-wrt.com/routerdb/de/download.php?file=1970

Worked fine for me.

Thank you very much!
Greetingz,
Christian
