didn't last with either.
As I recall the marketing was meager and support
poor.

Some advantages of ALE -141 for this purpose:
1) Message send/receive by portable transceivers without computer
2) Audible alarm call-up for individual operators or nets
3) Enables "hot standby" nets 24/7/365
4) Global standard and Interoperability
5) Bulletins/Messages with verification for unatt
Hi Ralph;
You and I are working on similar ideas, we are currently testing 141A for doing
the same and have it runninig from one of our local
Emergency Operations Centres (EOC)
We have tried RFSM 2400 and it is in our opinion not quite as robust as 141A,
which at the same time is not quite as
Yes, thank you.

Rick,
Performance compared to other modes:
In terms of throughput on low power (5 watts) NVIS path tested on
80M and 5MHz,
RFSM2400 (nonstandard, 2.7 KHz) was faster than PSK125 and allways
completed the session. PSK63 was difficult due to tight frequency
tolerance (despite commercial spec. g

There is a musical signal which I assume is degital on 14076 KHz at
this time of 2121Z. The bandwidth approximates that of RTTY of MFSK.
What is the mode?

Just FYI, 14.076 is also used by a growing number of hams working JT65A in
terrestrial (non-EME) mode.
Does PSKMail incorporate a waterfall display to check for other users on the
frequency?

Ralph,
Could you be a bit more specific when you say that you are having good
results?
How does RFSM2400 compare with other digital modes, particularly in
terms of weak signal performance? And also with high noise levels such
as on the lower bands?
Although I don't have any convenient way of

I have a question:
Being in Oregon, there is little need for Tornado watchers! However, SHOULD
something like that occur, without having to stay by the radio or terminal
24/7, is there a program that allows for or provides ALARMS that are audible to
alert a network of Packet stations?

If so, what is the best frequency to try?

There is a station in the UK that beacons via JT65A, can't recall what

options different from the every minute situation that is within WSJT. Five
different minute options would be useful where each continent could choose a

Hi Ralph,
Are there any particular frequencies where you operate RFSM2400? I've recently
downloaded it for use with my new soundcard interface, but didn't know where
to go. I get the impression that these digital modes work even when you can't
hear, so knowing the frequency is important.
