This is obviously meant for Simon (Hi Simon!):
So what do we have to look forward to in the HRD 5.0 version of DM780?
RX and TX sound card calibration for all modes, I hope! This is the major
missing element that drives me to fldigi as my setup requires a calibration in
order to be successful
Hi,
Off the top of my head:
1) Smoother UI - less cluttered,
2) Soundcard calibration - not yet implemented for all modes but will be in
the first public beta, this really is needed for wider modes such as MT63
and 2k Olivia.
3) Improved waterfall with a zoom feature, I find that I need this
Still no RTTY FSK then?
Is that ever going to be an option?

Simon,
Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. The ham radio developer
community is an amazingly accessible group of people.
I am very much looking forward to this release. I tend to push the software to
the limit in many ways and try hard not to whine when I push it over its
OK,
One thing I want to write while on holiday (!) is a simple soundcard
server - this way DM780 (and other programs) can select the soundcard used
on the remote server, adjust volume levels and get the data.
It'll be a TCP stream, no compression, nothing. Myself I use 16 bit
resolution so
Hah,
I did say 'off the top of my head' :-)
Yes - FSK. Once I get HRD 5.0 general beta out I'll be active on 30m as well as
20m, once I start using DM780 more I'll be able to improve it.
I've given up the day job and now work 100% on HRD and the future SDR software,
so have time to think
Maybe it is the sudden heat that is getting to me
Has anyone tried to copy digital modes using two different rigs set to two
different bands, with the audio from both going to ONE soundcard and PC? I may
give it a shot and see how confusing OR helpful this would be.
Don't see why it wouldn't work, Andy. FDMDV uses 2 sound cards for
transmit/receive. Could probably even control transmit/receive PTT with
separate com ports.
Sounds like the bad old days of HF Packet, with several QSOs going on at
the same time on one frequency!

Simon,
That would be excellent. It would fit right in on the Tools menu. The way you
and the team have integrated so many useful things into the Tools menu like the
virtual serial port, server service, etc. along with setup automation makes it
extraordinarily easy to accomplish some rather
I own a Tak-Tenna. I selected it because I have almost no space on my lot for
a dipole. First, it is easy to build. Second, don't try this antenna without
an antenna analyzer. I have the 40 meter version and it works. During the
worldwide SSB contest I was able to talk to Finland, New

What really matters with any antenna design is to compare the antenna
against another antenna to find out the actual real world performance.
Most Tak-tenna users have not done this from what I have been reading.
This is probably due to not having the space for a full size antenna,
since if
