We had an interview with create digital music about the design
process for our synthesizer, Circle, which might be interesting for
some of you:

I see that the site is put together to promote the new Herman Miller
Embody chair.
I always find it strange how companies that are traditionally
associated with good design get the web so wrong. Another example is http://www.vitra.com
, looks really well but is a complete pain to navigate.
With music software a lot of the people who design the software spend
their spare time using it to make music. A mix of both user/designer.
This can have its benefits as you are constantly real world testing
and refining the interface as you go through the development process.
On Jan 21,
We used standard cocoa controls and workflows for most of the
application and so had a good idea of how things would work.
It was easy to draw a background image for a screen in photoshop and
then position the real controls in code over the top, filling in the
parts and testing how it felt
Mentioned that we were working on an iPhone application last week. It
got released today and is a Dj/Remix app that comes with music from
electronic artists. If anyone is interest you can have a look in the

This reminds me of the study where in the early days of computing they
asked someone use a mouse, upon which the person picks up the mouse in
their hand and started waving it about in the air. Or the tech support

Hi,
Black as the background colour for an interface is sometimes used in
mission critical UIs, such as medical monitoring systems and trading

context and also post links if you have them of example

I faced a similar issue, whether or not to require a user to enter an
email address before getting a link to download the demo version of
our software.
While it would be a nice email list to have, it was a quick and easy
decision to give a direct link, as personally I always find it a pain
My usual use case for public transport is getting off the plane and
into a busy station. Nearly every ticket system on first use, bar
London and Tokyo, have ended up
with me at the head of a queue of locals rolling their eyes to heaven.
In these situations navigation to an end point as fast
Its also good to maybe have a look at peoples buying habits. For
electronic consumer goods, I think people use brands as a way of
choosing a product or 3rd party review site.
When I was looking a while back found my process was to check review
sites and then go to an online camera store with
