I am finally thinking about bringing a new one into the family ..
Squeezebox that is. I have been looking at that new overpriced remote
control -- the Controller -- and would never consider spending $299 for
it alone, but MIGHT consider the Duet just because it also adds another
player. However,

The Duet is in fact two products sold bundled together: the overpriced
remote control (aka SqueezeBox Controller [SBC]) plus the displayless
SqueezeBox Receiver (SBR). You can buy the SBR alone, without the
Controller, but you'll need some command-line configuration prowess to
get it set up.

I got the same strange behaviour when i did my first scan (clear library
and rescan everything) after the upgrade to 7.2. Directory Scan would
stop at 700 of some 34000 tracks, and after a few minutes says it's
finished but the time keeps ticking.
After turning on debug logging i found the

I'm not familiar with WHS, but you should be able to remotely start/stop
services using the service management console (or the command line - if you
prefer ;-)). See eg.

card. Btw, jive.bin is a folder containing several files and not one
single - is that correct?

Interesting, I get a blank page when I try to open SC from Chrome
installed on the same machine that SC is running, but it worked fine
when opening it across the internet from Chrome installed at work.

Well, lacking any other solution, I spent 90 minutes clicking on every
one of my 1408 albums. I'm curious as to whether anybody else has had
this problem, though, and if I missed a regenerate artwork button

I've never really considered SC7 to be slow, but it's certainly
exceptionally fast under Chrome

OK, I'm back after a rescan. I'm seeing the same thing as you, on the
SBC the album is show twice (correct) but the disc number isn't there
so you don't know which is which :)

My Squeezecenter is running under Ubuntu 8.04 and Chrome under

using MediaMonkey instead of dbpoweramp but SC still doesn't pick them
up. Do .flac have to be associated with an application for SC to find

I found another .m4b file lurking amongst the music and moved it
elsewhere. Finally got what I hope is a complete scan--at least, it is
showing all the tracks it missed last night and this morning.
This was another file that had been there for ages. 7.2 seems to be

You see this all the time. They bought a Duet, so they have no idea

What's the extension on your flac files? In the past I had some issues
with Windows created files that only had a fla extension and didn't
show up in Squeezecenter. (The Linux software always rips with a flac
extension.)
Once I changed the fla to flac everything was fine.
Perhaps a long shot,
The problem is that is that artist appearances on a compilation album
appear under artists, I just want the non-compilations to appear.

I don't have experience with having iTunes manage my library, but
usually SC has an artwork cache with the rest of the database cache.
Deleting that cache would be the first thing I would try. Note that I'm
talking about SC's cache here, not your browser's cache.

That was already enabled in my default skin. The place where I miss the
play next button the most is on the Handheld skin since I use it
I get this behaviour for added music. This has been the case since 7.0
and can only be resolved by doing a lengthy clear and rescan. Support
have never been able to replicate it but it happens consistently for
me.

PC was running on a Virtual Server 2005 in my network. Everything worked
fine (this server was not the Gateway to the internet).
Then I moved this virtual PC to an other Virtual Server 2005 (other

- no drop down list of past searches
- no keyword
I just upgraded to 7.2 and I have a setup where I often have my SB3
Classic powered up at a time where my computer with squeezecenter
installed is turned off. Before I was able to power off the receiver by
pressing power on the remote but that is not possible anymore! Stand-by
is only activated
The problem I found is a bug known to the programmers:
