I just came home today with a SqueezeBox Duet and I'm having a hell of
a time with it. For some reason Squeeze Center 7.2 can't find all the
music on my hard drive. It only finds about ten of them, although the
controller does list all my albums it has them in the Music Folder and
Can you explain how you got your music onto the hard drive? Did you rip
in Media Player 11 with the copy protect option turned on, or buy from
an online store?

Not being a Media Player user I cannot check, but according to the
google results I got there is such an option and I suspect, being M$,
it is turned on by default. If this is the case then you have
something of a problem as the Squeezebox, along with almost all other
media players, is not
I don't think that CP is on by default - it certainly wasn't on my
MP11.
Under the Now Playing tab, use the arrow to get to more options and
then look at the Rip Music tab...that's where the CP option lives.

http://www.abc.net.au/streaming/digradio/digradio.m3u and there is also
a jazz and a country stream.

I've just checked it and the CP isn't on. I've also inabled share media
files for Media 11. The strange thing is that Squeezebox found about
ten CDs but not the other couple of hundred. Has nobody else had this
problem?

You really need to get an engineer to test that your oven is not leaking
microwaves, its a pretty easy test, but requires the right gear (I use
microwave analysers in my work) it is possible that there could be a
fault with your oven.

Thanks Bpa. I deleted the plugin and reinstalled it and now it works.
Incidentally Alien BBC doesn't seem to work in SoftQueeze3, I get the
buffering message on the display but when its finished buffering I get
no sound. This isn't really a problem for me but I was wondering if its
a known bug
To sum up after reading all of the posts on this thread.
It seems there is something special about Panasonic microwaves that
makes them interfere with SBs, so there probably isn't a fault on the
unit.
Wired connection appears to be out because no holes are wanted in the
woodwork.

My SBC frequently gets stuck at the Logitech logo requiring a long
press to power off and try again. Might take 10-15 goes to get past
this.
Also it often seems to reboot itself once it is up and running.
Any ideas or is this an RMA job?

Today I noticed that SBC hangs and automatically reboots itself when I
browse to Artists and then the songs for that artist.
When I access the songs via albums, this does not happen.
I did not have the issue before.
I regenerated my music collection, reset SBC to factory setting,
I would also like the flickr screen saver to show private pictures. Have
there been any other threads dealing with this

Hm, I solved my own issue...
I redid the software update on SBC, after that it seems to work.
Note that I only succeeded in the software update after switching the
source to squeeze network.

My problem is almost the converse.
I've just reinstalled SC and rescanned. The whole scan takes nearly 4
hours, half of this time due to SC performing a MusicIP scan.
I've just made a change to SC settings (add tag delimiter and group VA
albums together) and the scan has just set off again,
I believe that earlier versions of the media player did have the copy
protection option turned on by default. So if they were ripped with an
earlier version this is most likely the problem.
As was mentioned if you re-rip one of the CDs that can't be found by
SqueezeCenter and it then can find it

I'm starting to add more and more podcasts to SC recently, and the
recent addition of better fast forward/rewind handling recently have
really improved the user experience for them.
Having said that, I still think there is lots of room for potential
improvement in a few specific areas.
I noticed this a while back too. I'd search bugs.slimdevices.com to see
if there's already one filed and if not log one.

I find it convenient to have the controller display the clock
continuously when it's stopped and in the charger. Is there a display
lifetime issue with doing this? Or is dim on charge just for
convenience for people who don't want the light on?

I add further clarification to my original post (it was late when I
wrote it). Squeezecenter 7.1 plays Apple lossless (ALAC) files, and
uses the alac program ro convert from ALAC to FLAC or WAV.

What is happening is SC thinks the file is a MOV type (Apple Quicktime
compatible) file to be transcoded into MP3. You have not defined any
decoder for MOV (in windows and OSX it uses mov123) and so SC fails to
decoder. Linux system need decoders defined for AAC/M4A formats.

Well I've done the factory reset and reconfigured the wireless net
settings.
I would say it has always been flakey but totally unpredictable -
sometimes it works for days, sometimes seconds.
I'll see if it fails again and then do the RMA on Monday. Fingers

It's an LCD display with an LED backlight. Neither has a lifetime that
is short enough to worry about. The controller will be obsolete long
before the display or its backlight die.

Hi,
Since upgrading to SC 7.2 all the Apple Lossless music i try and play
takes an age to start. The buffer sits at 0% for a few mins then the
track plays, same thing happens on the next track.
MP3's are playing straight away with no problems.
I run XP, SC 7.2 and a SB3.
Any ideas?

Thought I'd add a warning here re the xml feeds. I've just written a
quick script to check the availablity of the feeds the xml addon puts
on the menu. There's quite a few streams which don't look like they
have a real audio feed.

However, they do have SMB support - so they (and Roku and my ancient
Audiotron) attach to a NAS via the network without a computer more
easily than a Squeezebox.
While a small number of NAS boxes are open enough to have SqueezeCenter

Yes, SB2 will play ogg. There have been some issues in the past with
particularly esoteric encoders settings, but I haven't heard
complaints recently. Certainly all my oggs play fine. How is your

username and password for both last.fm and radioio but couldn't find
where to enter them. Through the plugins tab, I can enter a password
for the scrobbler, but not for LastFM or RadioIO.

I believe it uses the credentials you entered on SqueezeNetwork for
last.fm and radioio, but in order for that to work you must have
correctly entered you SqueezeNetwork login details on the appropriate
tab in SC settings. The error message you mentioned suggested that
wasn't done.

The auto-update setting is a bit buried in the SqueezeBox main setup
