Tis good, had the day off yesterday so gave it a good go. Here's how it
works (once you've clicked Start Genius all the below is automatic)...
It analyses your files, and saves this info to a (100Mb+ for me!!!)
database file, similar format to the .itl file. None of your tags are
altered.
In defence of the Transporter I must say that I've had mine since they
were first released and the only problem I have ever had with it was
installing firmware 40. Even then a quick revert to the previous
version cured it.
The pure and alive sound of the device is entirely worth the (in

It's easy to create a playlist of local files (playlist will be in .m3u
format) using the Squeezecenter web interface. You need to have set up
a Playlist directory in Squeezecenter (either a new folder or an
existing one) - see Settings/Music Library.

Monster ScreenClean is good stuff. I bought it a few years ago at
BestBuy. It is what they use on all their in-store displays. Cost about
$20 at the time for a 200 mL spray bottle which came with a nice
microfiber cloth and has lasted a long time.

Since upgrading to 7.2, I'm also getting an error when I do a full
rescan.
Most of my library is FLAC image + cue. A full scan seems to hang
somewhere in the letter H with the error below. If I then do a look
for new and changed music, it finishes the scan.

Looks like mostly Insert Bybee magic filtering, probably wouldn't
stand up to any real testing. You'd be better off getting a better
external DAC or a Transporter.

More than likely you have got multiple sets of tags in the files. Often
for MP3 files 3.1 and 3.2 versions of the tags are written. The two
sets can contain completely different information.
Many tag editors may only show you, and let you edit, one version
completely ignoring the other. However,
They're certainly copy protected and you should ONLY be able to listen
to them on an 'authorized' computer or iPod. Other than that, there's
nothing in SC to tell it what an M4A is... still, DRM is the big
stop-sign.
