If you're anal about the ripping the safest way is probably using Exact
Audio Copy. iTunes will not give you bit-perfect rips even thou the
difference would not be audible. The catch here is that EAC is win-only
so if u don't happen to have win accessible (for ex installed on ur mac)

squeezecenter 7.2 and slimserver 6.4. this just started with this

album entries the controller freezes and eventually reboots - if not
then it looks as if my controller is bust - annoying as all else works

bevor i have bought my duet i have a partion F:\ with all my mp3s on
it. Now i have a NAS and i copied all my mp3s to my NAS and shared it
on a network folder F:/
So it's the same like befor. With Winamp my old Playlists are working
fine -
A playlist is just a list of textual links to the music on your drives.
As you have discovered, in order to find the music, SC needs to see
the path to the files in the same way that it sees the path to your
music files.

on the squeezecenter the path to my music is
/volume1/music/album/song.mp3 on the playlists the path is
F:\album\song.mp3
I don't think i can change the path in the squeezecenter in F:\ because
the NAS don't know the F:\ (this is just the name of the shared
maybe I should have written in most cases not audible. Anyway, this is
a persistent topic of debate...

I gave mediamonkey a try. It looks like a serious alternative to iTunes.
However, mediamonkey does not seem to manage my movies and video
podcasts (not to mention iPhone applications and ringtones). So I'll
stick with iTunes for now.
Furthermore, mediamonkey only runs on Windows. In other words
i bought one, looking forward to seeing what it can do.

I have all my audiobooks in a folder called audiobooks, all the rest
is is a folder called music.
Is there really no way to show the folder audiobooks ONLY in Music
Folder view (directory browsing), and NOT in the artist/album view?

I used itunes to load my CD's simply because I could set up a couple of
machines and just feed them CD's. No other intervention.
Just set itunes to load/eject and turn-on Use error correction when
reading audio cd's

Yep... happens with me too.. from the first time I started softsqueeze
that happened. I'm afraid to start it now.
My controller exhibits all kinds of weird stuff from day to day causing
resets and reboots. Right now I can connect the controller to
sqeezenetwork but it won't connect to my pc
no dice.
