Squeezeslave controlled by the Browser UI is one way to go. Squeezeslave
involves some little work in the Terminal.
If SqueezePlay plays successfully, and you just don't like the
SqueezePlay user interface, you can play through that, and once it's
playing, control it through the Browser UI.

Hi,
I am new to this forum and just purchased a Transporter. In the Setup
with wireless access it asks for the password in hexidecimal. My
password is a phrase. How can I convert it to hexidecimal, or do I have
to change my security settings?
Thank you

Sometimes when my iPhone goes to sleep and I wake it up (while iPeng
has been running) iPeng refuses to bring up the "transport" overlay on
the "now playing" screen when I touch the cover art. If i restart iPeng
it works fine again.

If in doubt: disable _all_ 3rd party plugins, try again. If it's ok,
enable one after another, each time checking behaviour.

One day I turned on my Duet and Boom and the Internet Radio listing on
the Home screen disappeared. Did they remove this functionality when
connecting to SqueezeCenter? If I switch to SqueezeNetwork then it
comes back but the interface is much slower. How can I get it back the
way it was?

Ha, I think the commercial term you want to use here is commission,

"Kickback" usually connotes a payment that some might view as, or in a

Yes, if I unplug my modem iPeng starts but then closes down without
finding anything - even if the Squeezebox is playing.

For what it's worth, I now think it's worth getting one just for this
purpose. I hadn't intended to do so, but since posts here pointed me
in the direction of iPeng, which I installed on hers, I find myself
constantly borrowing my wife's just to use with the SB and it's
getting a bit unfair
I sell VortexBox appliances to the UK all the time. Just select shipping
to Europe when you buy the appliance on Amazon. It will raise the
shipping cost from $8 to about $40.
Thanks for pointing that out Peter. I do make a little money to support
the VortexBox project from selling Home Audio rela

Synchronization isn't really supported with "software" players - that
includes the Controller's player, Softsqueeze, SqueezePlay or
squeezeslave.
People claim to use synch with the software players, but the results
are varied. I've tried between hardware players and squeezeslave, but

I personally don't want the USB option - but batteries would be
brilliant.
One thing though, I think the USB option is not as complex as needing a
PC - there are plenty of very small, very inexpensive amp/speaker
devices that accept USB sticks. (many of them are iPod docks or similar,

@davep: thanks for the idea! I didn't realize SqueezeSlave could run

I'm running SC for WHS on my custom build homeserver now. To save some
energy the WHS goes to hibernate after 10 minutes when there's no client
connected anymore (using LightsOut-Add-in). While turning on my Boom the
