I have been using port forwarding with Squeezebox server security for
several years running 24/7 and I am confident that no one has been able
to access it. I

well together with a WAN port forwarding, when wifi is OFF, 3G do the
work, when Wifi is ON I get immediatly LAN speed. WOL still work on
Wifi but I'll have to investigate in order to get Wake on Wan (wake up

No, the Touch is simply a table top player intended to be connected to
your stereo. The interface is essentially the same as the SB Radio.
Touch has a lot of great features: bigger screen, touch screen, full
button IR remote, built in mini-server, excellent audio outs (analog

As far as I understand - a WOL packet broadcast from the internet will
never even make it as far as the home router. It is very unlikely to
make it past the switches at the ISP - but if it did - the home router
would not know what to do with it. I don't think NAT and WOL are

I've setup a live stream on my LAN. Using a (police/fire) scanner and
some software (RadioFeed) I'm able to stream the audio and tags (e.g.
Boston Police or Boston Fire) from the scanner to my Squeezeboxes.
The configuration uses an audio and data cable (serial) from the
scanner to a Windows 7 PC
The only way to solve it is to get the metadata from the stream itself,
the way almost all internet radio streams work.

I just ordered a Squeezebox radio and am beginning to learn about
setting it up for news stations from around the world before I get it.
I don't think I will be setting up any music apps or listening to my
computer music files with it.

Running the full SBS server program will indeed give you more options
more configurability and more stations. But you could just use the
free www.MySqueezeBox.com (MySB) if you only intend on listening to
internet streams.
Go to the MySB site, create your account, then click on Remote Control.
I like the app quite a bit. I find it fast enough on both my Droid and
Galaxy Tab except for scrolling/navigating long lists.
SqueezeCommander still performs better, but this app has its
advantages.

The In app purchase for some reason it is not working, I have made sure
that in app purchases are enabled but when I do the buy now, and then
it comes up to 'confirm your in app purchase' I hit buy and then
nothing happens. I closed the app completely(by hitting the home

care of it. So don't worry about trying to get the InApp-purchase
working.
Sometime the InApp-purchase is quite slow (the popups come from Apple I
don't have any influence). So be patient and maybe wait a bit
