list of podcasts and all the available ones are listed perfectly. They
appear to play, but I get no sound - am I missing something? I'm
running Squeezebox Server 7.5.4 r32171

I updated java too, and now SC runs (as a service) for a few seconds and
then stops. I think Softsqueeze is fine, although obviously it just
loses contact with SC. Either way it's currently unusable :(

it in the network card properties was that
it wasn't there! Entering it into the 'network address' field made it
all work at last.
All I need to do now is find out how to make it go into standby, which
currently it only does if I tell it to :(

Maybe it'll increase when I keep it running longer.. will be

One thing it doesn't seem to have is the google toolbar... unless I'm

If I select my entire collection to play at random it makes a playlist
of some 17,000 songs - takes _a_few_minutes_ to generate, but once done
it works fine, so it should be fine for 1,000.

That is correct - SqueezeCenter will not know that you have removed a
music file unless you clear and rescan. I am surprised that you have no
problem replacing an mp3 file with a flac, as the filename extension is
different.
It will only show up once on the remote, but does it play?

The wireless aspect works like a charm on our patio!
The screen was readable on a bright day (though I didn't try it in
direct sunlight). As previously mentioned it's similar to trying to
read a mobile phone screen, or the screen on a camera.

On the old remote when browsing by artist, you could press one of the
alpha keys and go straight to artists beginning with P,Q,R etc..

Got my controller yesterday too - the battery was sufficiently charged

if you are using the correct account details?
Apparently you don't have to fill in the details anyway, you can leave

If your files are mp3, you'll probably find the tags much easier to find

one showing).
