The purpose of John others is to build a true audio platform in which
wandboard chip will be the core as it is meant to be integrated in
different systems (which is not the purpose of the cubox). Moreover, a
nice HW audio interface is currently being built.
This is a long thread, but it is worth

JackOfAll already answered to the question about the quality of the
onboard chip
From an onboard audio perspective, just about anything is going to beat
the default sgtl5000 audio implementation on the carrier board. Truly
terrible!
And about what I've understood from John posts, having a

Thanks and BTW, I just had a 2 GB microSD on which this image fitted
perfecly (just received my wandboard today). Not much tests tonight
except booting and checking 1 or 2 things (apache

Seems we'll have to wait until end of week

We need to find a better kernel for this as we definately want to run
with a kernel which can prememt and ideally the linux rt patches (as

beagleboard for the moment and see if this helps?

We'll have enough trouble with initial kernel scripts tests / tuning
without loosing time on low memory limits at start :)

That sounds really great : the specs you propose (i.e. included DAC and
defaut jacks) and the related price make sense to me .
I personnaly don't need the TOSLINK and depending on complexity, an IR

Just a quick Pi based solution costing (tax / shipping excluded) of a

- HiFiDIY Sabre USB DAC : 42 $

- IR receiver : 3$

- few resistors, cables, solder, plugs, etc ... : 10$
TOTAL : 115$

You may try to connect to mysqueezebox.com and play a radio stream (i.e.
through headphones)
If it works, a full rescan of your library may solve the problem (a
guess looking at the symptoms)

One possibility : If you've linked your Squeezebox to the

Thanks for the link, the library seems promising in terms of
functionality
However, keep in mind the minimalist script minimize server
connections, so it may be more efficient for scripts that run in the
background

I originally bought a Boom for the kitchen ... but the alarm clock + its
overall good sound at low volumes (i.e. when you want to start to sleep
with music) + the ability to soften the LCD when it is dark definitely
changed my mind : bedroom is the best place to have a boom :)
