I am not sure when eventually the electronics would give out -they seem
well build- but if I consider another 10-15 years of lifetime before I
consider an alternative (not all that unusual with audio equipment), I
am looking at the current LMS software becoming incompatible

See bug#112.

Essentially, there isn't any option currently present. It's been
requested for Quite Some Time (hence the low bug number).

See bug#112 - http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=112 - for the
request, to vote for it and for patches which do this.

certainly don't want people listening to or downloading my music in my
library.
If google is getting past it sufficiently to change the tracks that
play, then people can.

Basically... you don't put the controls to your cooker on the outside
of your house, so don't do the same thing with SlimServer.

It's not quite as nice as your suggestion, but you don't have to

the system, because just playing music
should be using ~1.3% of the processor time for slimserver (your
machine is 3x faster, so 1/3 of 4% processor time).

outstrips the current one shortly...)

One of the many things on my todo list - is to build a version of

If Gerph has built a suitable
system, and I found that mplayer compiled up and ran just
fine.

APE tags. It's handy if you happen to have
people give you files that are tagged with APE and you just couldn't
care less about them, or if you know that you only use ID3v2 and you
don't want ID3v1 confusing you (or - as is my case - you only use ID3v1
and don't want ID3v2 confusing you).

Home- The Best of the Verve Years.
For id3v2.3 tags, however, a / (as gerph may point out) is the
official field separator, so some applications that adhere to the
so-called id3v2.3 spec may treat AC/DC as two

SlimServer 6.2.1 was the last version I am aware of which has the

'clear and rescan' ?
I'm a little surprised it takes so long to do a full clear and rescan
on your system - I don't know what processor you're on but with 34,000
files here it only takes about 2 hours-ish on a 500MHz system, using
Linux.

within the limited realms of the ID3v2.3 specification with the
correct flags, without multiple entries, and limiting yourself to
encodings 1 and 2, then you may find that it works.
It wouldn't be unreasonable for it to be rejected as invalid at this or
any future point in time.

What I mean is that the TXXX one won't work the way you expect, but the
TSOP (et al) should. Your best bet if you want to check these things is
to try the MP3s

guess that's just a personal choice.
