There are rumors that Google may be developing a replacement for the
Chromecast Audio, one of the greatest discontinued audio devices of all
time. I have two and, with the Chromecast plugin, they work great.
Regular Chromecasts also work for audio casting but, yes, you would need
an HDMI input.

Interesting. I've never used that--I've always tagged before including
anything in LMS.
I'm not sure I quite understand, but it's my understanding that file
names are totally irrelevant to LMS. I've created separate albums for
tracks that are contained within the same file and I've created albums
that contain tracks that come from separate files. In each case, it's
the same tag
Some additional info:
LMS and the music files do not have to be on the same box (although they
can be). The music files simply have to be accessible somewhere within
your network. Also, LMS only scans the folders that you tell it to scan
(see below).
I previously had my music files on a
I don't subscribe to Sirius, but if you have both LMS and the Sirius
player on your computer, couldn't you just use the Waveinput plugin in
LMS to send the feed to your Squeezebox players?

Right. Waveinput is listed under 3rd party plugins in the LMS server
settings. You need to check "Show all 3rd party plugins" to see it.
Once you've added it, it becomes just another input that you can use for
your Squeezebox ecosystem.
By the way, garym, I'm also running my main LMS on a Vortexbox, but I'm
also running another LMS server on my Windows computer, which is where I
have the Waveinput plugin installed.

You've been using foobar2000. Isn't that Windows only?

Yes, I stream music from Google Music running on a Windows 7 computer to
my Squeezebox Classic using the LMS
Same problem here. I've noticed that occasionally there is a brief
error message. The couple times that I've caught it, the error message
says something like, 504 Gateway Timeout.

I guess Android needs to watch out, since that's been my current

Actually, I still have Beta tapes and a Betamax (although I never play
them). I still have all my LPs, a solid new turntable, and vinyl is
making a comeback. SageTV appears to have been reborn in Google's TV

there be any possibility of, say, adding plus/minus buttons (maybe at

Anyway, great app!

?, easily change volume?, etc.).
That said, I find all this discussion really interesting and I am
getting used to native Android apps. Sooner or later I'll probably be
doing more research on the native apps and most likely end up with one
or two.
