A lot more arguments for using AIFF than WAV. You can do everything
with AIFF that you can with FLAC and considerably more because it
works with iTunes, which, of course, FLAC doesn't.
Apart from the space issue, which is probably going to be significant
only for tracks used on an iPod (and

My question is why do you have some of your collection in wav and the
rest in Apple Lossless? Wouldn't it make more sense to have it all in
ALAC?
Or use Flac instead. Makes things a lot simpler.

Just different ideas over the last few years...Initially I started to
rip in ALAC to save space and then moved to wav files in order to
preserve the original file - no good reason I suppose. The newer
hi-res downloads are in PCM and I was not sure if they could be ripped

But as both ALAC and wav are lossless, you can transcode to any other
lossless format without impacting quality.
There aren't many reasons to use wav (and none of those are good
reasons), but there are stacks of reasons to use Flac and lots , if
a few less, to use ALAC.

Works a treat.
And for my 2c, FLAC will -really- improve your music navigation/query
experience. WAV has only disadvantages.

I have been trying to find a way to associate album art to wave files
and have not been able to solve this. I have ripped most of my 250G+
collection in wave format (rightly or wrongly) and have been frustrated
in trying to show album art in Squeezecenter.
I have riped using iTunes and this
