Load your music files in a tag program and look at the tags. That is the
only way to know for sure.
Personally, I delete ALL tags except the id 3v2 tags.Very simple to do
with mp3 tag. Since I use cover.jpg in each folder I also delete ALL
embedded cover art.
Cleans tags yield clean results :)
Can't this still be caused by having playlists in you main music folder
which gets scanned?
I think playlists need to be in a separate folder, or they will get
scanned and added to the db as well as the actual files, showing tracks
and albums twice. Using SC7 here, so not sre about SS6.5.

Are you using cover art? As a separate filed cover.jpg or is it
embedded? If you have BOTH of these then you can end up with duplicate
entries.

up a few related threads. This will undoubtably be a tag issue. iTunes
is a bit sneaky and adds its own tags - particularly inserting Disc
