First of all update to the latest LMS (7.7.5 or more reent). Then re-run
a scan and provide your full scanner.log file.

Hi
I'm using a LMS 7.7.3 on windows 7, a library of 28000 files on an
external hard drive.
It has started to take 6 hours to scan changed files. Any suggestions
about how to improve this? It's happened out of the blue -- the computer
crashed and then suddenly this scanning problem!
Any ideas
Would you suggest I install 7.7.9 then? (If so, can you give me a link
to where I can find it?)
7.9. It's a development release. It has lots of improvements over the
official 7.7.x (bug fixes as well as features), but it has not been
released. Which means: yes, it's great, and currently very
After that it just goes on to handle all the changed files it sees.
There are no changed files! This is the second time this has happened
since the crash.
There has been a long standing issue with daylight savings: in case you
were living in EU, you switched off daylight savings. Therefore LMS

Where did you find that link? Just use the one without the -origin. It's
most likely faster, as it's using caching servers near you.

Quick question before I do the install. Do I need to delete the old
server or will it do it for me?

Should just overwrite (update) existing LMS keeping all preferences &
settings. I'd suggest you clear the LMS Cache and do a Wipe & Rescan in
LMS Control Panel.
No need to wait to listen to music while scanning, just use My Music >
Music Folders (no scan even needed to use this).
I seem to remember downloads.slimdevices.com not working so went
searching, maybe even got it from the forums !
Ok, that might be: -origin is, as the name says, the origin server, from
where the caches are getting their content. If the caches fail, then you
can pull from it. Otherwise you
OK I'll do it today or tomorrow.
There's a scan running now, the trouble seems to begin at this point in

Not sure where I got it from, it was relatively recently.
