In typical usage today, SSDs will accept quite a lot of writing until they fail. But of course they CAN fail early, so a backup is always a good idea. In 2016, Germany-based renowned computer magazine c't performed a long-term test about how much data can be written to SSDs before they fail.

On the SSD finite read/write cycles... Most vendors now build their laptops with SSD main drives. I would think that if this were a real world concern SSD's wouldn't be the current preferred device type for laptops. I would think a music library on a SSD would have substantially less I/O

I'm told by people who claim to know better than I do that SSDs have two caveats 1. Never defrag them 2. Have a backup because you have finite read/write cycles. Otherwise I agree with your experience, they are faster and quieter. I'm currently re-ripping my CD collection to a SamsungT5
