Why use softsqueeze it is not actively supported. Squeezelite and

Just downloaded softsqueeze_windows_3_9b2 so that I could play my music

I am a definite novice when it comes to port forwarding, SSH, etc, but I

- Whether anything appears on Softsqueeze disply
- Can you move through menus ?
- Can you play any music ?
- Does the problem happen randomly or after some sequence or perhaps a

When connected via the tunnel, the log keeps saying lost contact with

There is nothing on the plugins page of the server that I can see. I
would love a newer version. It should not be so hard to find

SSH and slimproto in the Softsqueeze Debug tab and then re-open the
console window and see what log message are saved.
It sounds like a firewall or similar issue on port 3483 where messages
from Softsqueeze are not being
The problem is running two SoftSqueezes (from different machines) at
once. If I turn the one on my desktop off, the laptop one works through
the tunnel. If the desktop one is also on, both go beserk.
Is there a limit of only one SoftSqueeze at a time?

I'm using SoftSqueeze 3.8 (on WinXP) with server 7.4.x (on Ubuntu) and have
found that playback often hangs at the end of tracks.
I see lots of options in the debug log but don't know what red flags to look
for among the reams of data.
In recent debugging of a problem with my radio streaming, I notice that
when I use SoftSqueeze (on same XP box as server) to listen to live
streams, the music distribution to my Squeezeboxes crawls to a stutter.
This is true for both V3.7 and V3.8. Also, the Web UI (in the browser)
becomes a

original slimdevice) and I've always been able to supplement the
hardware by using a couple of network computers to distribute music

The only time I've noticed this type of behavior is when I take my Boom
remote and set it's Audio Quality to a lower setting while it is still
Sync'ed to the full speed players at home. (I only have about 512K of
outbound speed.)
Removing the Boom from the Sync pool stops the problem.

Probably. Syncing with soft players is never as good as hardware players
as the software player has no control over the type of audio hardware,
drivers or audio effects enabled - all of which can affect time taken to
sync.
So Softsqueeze may be discarding a few packets while trying to get
audio
I'm running Softsqueeze 3.7 on a Athlon XP64 machine (XP SP2) with 2Gb
RAM. It's a dedicated media centre machine, with nothing else running on
it. I'm finding that it skips a split-second of each track during the
first 10 seconds. There are no skips again until the start of the next
track, when

network which is running the same version of Softsqueeze (and connected

The zip file was supposed to be for standalone installation but one of
the library file in the zip is incorrect.
However you could do a server side installation and then run the
browser on your Media PC to start Softsqueeze on your Media PC.

website. This stream detects your bandwidth and gives you either a 32k
feed or a 128k feed.

Softsqueeze however, will connect to either the Windows Squeezecenter
or Linux Slimserver with no trouble.

I meant to say also:
- I used to have the older version of SoftSqueeze, but I upgraded to
the latest (SoftSqueeze 3.7), and it made no difference.
- songs tend to get further out of sync after each song in the
playlist.
Anyone have any ideas? Currently a frustrating experience :).

I recently upgraded to the latest SqueezeCenter, and have been using the
same SoftSqueeze version as has been available for a long time. Now
when I start to play an album or playlist, everything syncs fine
between my two rooms. However after the first song, there is a slight

It was broken in the first release of SqueezeCentre they don't appear
to have any intention of fixing it.
