I turned on debug logging and can see that it is getting back a "resource not found" when trying to access (for example) http://api.mixcloud.com/popular?offset=0=50; So I guess MixCloud have changed their API or they have a temporary problem. (switching it to https also fails) Paul Webster

I think I found the problem. In the custom-convert.conf I was using $FILE$ instead of $URL - this is OK for transcoding files but not streams with URLs. Luckily ffmpeg can handle the "file://" URL type so MP4 transcoding of files is not broken by adding support for MP4 streams. Can you test.

Looks like Mixcloud plugin only works with "direct" streaming to players ie. no transcoding. Not sure if this was because streaming MP4 transcoding was not available and so not tested or whether the plugin implementation is such that it cannot support players that cannot play AAC natively.

Good that ffmpeg is installed. LMS only reads the custom-convert.conf file at start up. If it breaks something all you need do is rename the file to something differernt , restart LMS and all MP4 will be back as before. So it is a simple chnage to make. The most difficult part is finding

I'm not whether LMS supplied executables play on Red Hat also you haven''t said what architecture: Arm vs x86 , 32bit vs 64bit. To check whether your system transcoding is OK - try to play a plain http/AAC stream on your Transporter such as http://somafm.com/illstreet64.pls

The error may or may not be associated with the use of Mixcloud - you have provided no detail of the system and what is being attempted - e.g. audio format being played, the LMS version being used, OS platform etc. The error means that the Transporter cannot play the audio format natively and

So i have the Mixcloud app installed on LMS and never needed to mess with this on the Touch it just worked. But on my recently purchased Transporter i get the error message "UNABLE TO PLAY FILE TYPE FOR " the only way i can get this is to work is use my Touch and the transporter as a DAC
