I am running SBS 7.4.2 and have no problems listening to 24/96 FLAC
files, but my TacT 2.2 sync light also reflects only 44.1 kHz. BTW, My
current audio system is comprised of the following components: PC +

The SB3 can only handle 48k analogue and digital out. SOX is used in
SBS to downsample 96k 24bit to 48k 24bit. The Touch can handle 96k.

Indeed - My TACT would show 48 (which was what it was
Thanks a stack for your input guys. You have persuaded me to upgrade to
the Touch asap (it didn't take much convincing though - the Touch looks
so good!)

While your waiting for your Touch you might want to give VortexBox
Player a try. It can play up to 192/24 with no problems and no
re-sampling. It works with USB DACs as well as S/PDIF.

I'll recheck the 44.1 kHz reading. I also have a
No, it's the same as SB3. Sorry only Transporter Touch can support

I have two FLAC files of Rebeca Pidgeon doing Spanish Harlem, one is
24/96 the other us 24/88.2. But in both cases they are down sampled to
44.1KHz -- or should I say, the sync light on my DAC indicates 44.1KHz.
I would have expected for the 96KHz file for the 48KHz sync light to
show activity.

When it comes to hardware both the Transporter and the Touch should do
24/96.
But was my understanding that for other models Squeezecenter would
convert on the fly I guess that it is time to go and try myself.

Recent versions of SBS (or SqueezeCenter) downsample hi-rez flac to
24/48 which can be handled natively by a SB Classic.
For details, search for 'sox' on the link below or go to 7.3.2 Release
