days ago, SS displayed the names of my iTunes music library playlists
and their contents, but didn't show a Podcasts entry under the
Browse header.
Yesterday, SS still showed the names of the playlists, but found them

As I said, you should have a Playlist called Podcasts.
(Even if you don't actually have a playlist in iTunes called Podcasts,
that's just the way it shows up. )
Being a Playlist, you'll find it in the 'Playlists' submenu of 'Browse
Music'.
Now, if you have your iTunes playlists in SlimServer,
Is your SlimServer wired to your router?
Always try to have at least one leg wired if you're experiencing
problems.

No only the SB3 ( laptops I have) are wireless... It seems quite
definately that in the case in hand
Is the Super G mode (108Mbps) enabled in the router ?
If so and if there is a Netgear WLAn adaptor in the PC - turn off
Super G mode and try again.

Just to let anyone know the cause of the above problem.
Reading elsewhere on this forum I came across Robert who had the exact
same symptoms. Turned out you need to completely remove Zone Alarm
firewall not just shut it down. It seems Slimserver service has an
issue with the Truevector Zone alarm

You will need to find where server.exe is located in Windows and
further go into that directory in the dos prompt to execute the
command.
Cut and paste the string exactly as given below
server.exe --itunes --d_itunes
There is a space right after .exe and after --itunes.

OK, so i now have the buffer showing whilst playingnow for the
testing
FIRST TEST
SB3 CONNECTED VIA ETHERNET
HHD stored music
and the buffer was just bizarre!!! it seemed to count down 1% every
two seconds until it reached 0%, the song then finished and it shot
straight back up to

It may have been mentioned before but there is a difference between
signal strength and quality. The SB3 only shows strength, which can be
misleading. A strong signal does not necessarily mean a quality one!

(when WPA and WEP is disabled) it finds
your wireless router manages your ip space. it acts as the DHCP server,
assigning IP addresses as they are requested. certain conditions cause
them to be released, and then there can be major trouble if both sides
don't agree the IP address has indeed been released. And the SB3 is not
a good DHCP

Michael recommends using SlimCD as a demo installation rather than a
permanent one; he would prefer you to use SlimNAS. Some of us take no
notice and use it anyway :)
