Mnyb describes it correctly as dsd noise. Also you can see a very rapid
lowerage in HF energy on the music especially on the Audacity pic. A
psycho-acoustic codec will lowpass it pretty agressive cause most of
the HF in the music is masked already.
Besides that the recording sounds superb.

It may be a superb recordning :) is the music good ? but the music
content seems to end 40kHz
Aplying a step filter here and use 88.2kHz as sample rate seem to be
the rigth thing to do.
This would preserve all content thats originated from the musical
performance, the DSD quatisation noise is not music.
In fact the 88.2 version must have this done to it if not your in a
world of aliasing artifacts ?

That parabolic shape is the typical DSD HF noise tail it is meant to be
filtered away by the SACD player for example, preserving it in an 192kHz
file is an technical error so that file is broken and can not be used to
judge the sq of this recording.

Re: [slim] Android Controller App

2011-03-23 Thread mherger

All - we've identified an issue in the Controller App 1.0 which can
cause the NP screen to get stuck. This should only happen with SBS
7.5.3 or older, or with a not quite up to date copy of 7.6. 7.5.4
nightlies should work fine, as well as mysb.com.

Could anybody seeing the Now Playing screen issue tell me what exact
server they're using?

Michael, not sure that's the issue you're talking about, but I'm able
to reproduce a problem with the NP screen using 7.5.3: when switching
players back and forth, normal NP screen will vanish, I'm stuck in

I'm running the app on an HTC Hero (which has a CM6 rom) and its almost
unusable. I can connect to my SB3 but the interface is so slow to be
unusable. When I browse New Music (which is just 100 items) scrolling
is slow and unresponsive. I never got as far actually playing and album
as the application kept freezing.

I admit this is an old phone but it meets the requirements for Android
version.

Its a shame because I like the look of the UI.

It could be: the problem is that with SBS 7.5.4 the app doesn't get
player status updates. Thus it would probably never learn there is
something playing. I'll hopefully have a fix to test soon.

As far as I understand it (from reading and also using the desktop
profiler) it merely checks if fingerprints are available for the
files in the Moodagent Cloud and if not it analyzes them and sends
them.

On your smartphone I would expect the moodagent app to have its own DB
containing the tags - so no tagging of the physical files take
place...
I suppose it's the same when used as a plug-in in Winamp.

It should work, depending on how the network is set up where you are
going to stay. If it requires you to log in each time to access the
Internet, you may be screwed, as you can't enter account credentials
using the Boom. If it is a protected/unprotected WLAN with free
Internet access, you should be fine.

As for power, just get a travel adapter equivalent to
http://cgi.ebay.com/Travel-Changer-Adapter-Plug-US-USA-European-Euro-NEW-/400188683456?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0hash=item5d2d1ab4c0
and you are fine.

The Boom should make a nice companion indeed.

The power plate kit is just a set of snap-on plugs for different

compatible with most worldwide power standards.

A cool feautre would be that once this touch + HD comes home and

[slim] 10 android tablet $280 at woot (3/23 only)

2011-03-23 Thread bobkoure

If you're looking for a decent sized Android tablet to control your SBS
(or whatever reason) this one's a decent deal. It's a ViewSonic gTablet
10.1 Multi-touch. It's at woot.com, but only today as they just do
one-day deals.
There are a couple of custom ROMs available (I've been looking at the
Cyanogen one). No idea if it'll get the upcoming Android tablet ROM
(screen might not have enough pixels). Lots of good info (and useless
blather) in the forum at woot.

I've been starting in on Android coding, and this is as cheap as the
second hand phones I was looking at, so I snapped one up (well
'snapped' being a relative thing, woot sometimes takes 5 days to
ship).
I'll also use it to control by SB server. It occurred to me that some
other folks here might also be interested in using one for that
purpose, so I thought I'd comment.

Admins: please feel free to delete this in a bit as it's not useful
info as of, well, 3/24...

Oh - I don't feel so bad for having missed the weekend deal on Duets
now...

[slim] Tweaking Synchronization

2011-03-23 Thread Lyster

When I had difficulty keeping my duet in synch with Softsqueeze, I
bought a Boom - and have not regretted it. No problems with
synchronization. I just bought a SB Radio for the kitchen, and all
started well, but last night it would lose synchronzation with the
other SB units.
What should I be trying in order to resolve this issue?

Re: [slim] Android Controller App

 Is the app open source?

Some really small changes have already slipped in to SBS 7.6 ;-).

I've talked about this to my manager, and he was surprisingly positive about
it. Let's see how far we get with this...

Re: [slim] Android Controller App

2011-03-23 Thread your momo

Nice app, works well on my Samsung P1000 tab. Thanks a lot to make it
happen !!!

Volume could have been better displaying attenuation level in db, like
on my TP. Having just a bare is not very accurate when driving directly
an amp or active speakers.

Rather impressed by the performance browsing into a 600 cd collection
on a basic qnap ts-109 nas. Fare quicker than browsing sbs through the
web interface who is just unusable from such a nas.

Would also appreciate to wippe out the time bare that overlays the
cover picture and have a way to configure the menu buttons keeping only
the necessary one.

Yes, some might think of this app as the fastest web UI we've ever done :-).

It's hidden if you touch the cover art.

Re: [slim] Control your SqueezeBox or Transporter with Foobar2000

2011-03-23 Thread gsrex

stuffedspacedog;619551 Wrote:
Hi, I just spent some time looking into this... the Columns UI uses a
completely different Windows CLASSID so my script can't find it, it
also uses a different title when it's idle (just foobar2000 instead
of foobar2000 v1.1.5... I've made you a special version, tested it,
and it works fine on my machine.

You need to open FB2K, go to preferences display columns ui. At
the bottom you should see a window with //This is the default script
for the title of the main window during playback. You need to change
the text UNDERNEATH this comment to:

 %path%/%playback_time_remaining_seconds%/%ispaused%/%playback_time_seconds%/

Then run the new FooSQ version in this zip file:

 http://www.at-sea.com/work/FooSQ_ColumnsUI.zip

Please note that this version is an edit of the one I currently use so
doesn't have the bells and whistles of using an .ini file, ability to
select different players, allowance for running SBS on another machine
etc. You need to make sure SBS is running and FB2K is loaded before
 running the FooSQ exe file.

Let me know how you get on. Alan

G'day Alan, just checked back to this thread and wow, didn't expect you
to have done that for me, thank you x 100!

Just got it running now, works fine. No problems at all so far.

Will update if I run into anything.

Thanks once again!
