Re: [slim] How I fixed my SB3 when it kept freezing /Rebooting

2011-11-09 Thread toby10

Try these two stations with your SB3 connected to MySB.com

On SB3 (or MySB.com Remote Control) go to Internet Radio Search
Enter notend without the 's, play the first station listed, see if
it plays fine for about 20 minutes.
Repeat the above for the search word Linn, play the Linn Classical
for 20 minutes.

What happens on both stations playing through your SB3?

 3. They put the Squeezebox on the shelf on my local electronics store
 4. They have signed deals with a number of streaming services and

 5. They continued to take the costs to keep running this forum and the

Excellent reply. I would probably not have heard of Squeezebox if it
were not for Logitech. Still, I worry because it is such a niche
product and it takes a brave company to carry on investing in this kind
of technology in the long term.

I sometimes wish that the Squeezebox line had the design integrity of
the Sonos kit which looks much more like a system than Squeezebox.

I think the SB Touch has stolen a march on the Sonos lineup but they
need to build on that with an amplified touch-screen player and a
touch-screen Radio (and Boom?) all designed around the same interface
and with a similar style.

It is encouraging that I see many fewer posts on the Touch forum from
people with the wi-fi problems that always seemed to plague the Duet.
That reduces the advantage that Sonos has in that area.

Absolutely right in all respects. As the owner of two Receivers I
would be quite happy to replace either or both of them with a Touch
if/when I feel the need and have the cash.

My problems with the Duet have always lain with the Controller that
(though much more reliable than it was to begin with) still seems to
fail to find my server on a regular basis. The problem is always
fixable by turning it off and on again.

If I had Touches I would instantly have another way of controlling the
music if the Controller decided not to cooperate!

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2011-11-09 Thread Jelle S.

First of all, let me say that I've been using Squeezecommander for a
long time now and it's been decisive in migrating from CD to streaming
flac; it's great to use and very responsive.

With the latest updates, however, I'm having an issue. The update
installs fine on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, but cannot be run on my Galaxy S
(GT-i9000). All of a sudden the Market tells me my device is
incompatible...

Crucial to note is that I run a custom ROM + kernel (Juwe 6.0 and
Semaphore 1.82) which is based on 2.3.5 (JVT), but that I didn't have
this problem earlier, while I've run custom ROMs all the time.

I'm not sure if the problem lies with Squeezecommander (0.9.6.1 runs
fine), the ROM/kernel or the Market, although other apps can be
installed without hiccups. I really like the new, small improvements in
0.9.6.3, so perhaps someone knows what's going on and can provide a
workaround?

I tried to pull the .apk from my Tab and install it through SDK, but
the Tab isn't rooted and I have to keep it that way (work).

Thanks.

Thanks guys for the heads up! I've identified an issue with the update on
OSX due to the product renaming. I'm working on it right now, it will
hopefully be fixed in the next release.

Until then...

If you want to update (if everything is running fine now you may want to
wait) just uninstall your SBS keeping all settings prefs when asked.
Then just download the complete install pkg from MySqueezeBox.com My
 Media, install fresh.

No need to uninstall. Just install the downloaded .dmg on top of the
existing installation.

I think you very seriously overestimate the contribution of the
touchscreen to the cost of the Touch. Notice that it's the same size as
a lot of phones and GPS units? There is the development cost (now
largely sunk) of porting SqueezeOS to display on the Touch.

TBH, I don't know the costs, but I bet you're looking at saving maybe
$25 by removing the screen. And numerous headaches with setup, as
experienced with the Duet Receiver.

Do you have a HTC device?
The same restrictions apply as for SqueezeConfig, i.e. it will not run
on several HTC devices because of a bug in their firmware.
(They filter out UDP broadcasts, but these are needed for the discovery
packets...)

If SqueezeCommander finds an unconnected player, it will show a new
'fake server' called 'unconnected players' in the PlayerServerScreen.
You can longpress the unconnected player there and select 'reset' or
shortpress it and select a new server for it.

Betty in the Sky With A Suitcase
PRI's The World in Words
NPR Car Talk (a very funny radio show I never remember to listen to

It stops playing the station and the SB3 reboots.

Thanks for your great support!

I got an answer from the Market team already. There was all this stuff
about custom ROMs and whatnot (which wasn't the issue), but what really
peaked my interest was that the 'new' Market checks for display
resolution and some other stuff.

Since my screen resolution did not match the standard settings (I like
my resolution somewhat higher), I got excluded from a bunch of stuff
(from which I only use SqueezeCommander on a daily basis).
Restoring to the default setting for a GT-I9000 did the trick and
allowed me to update SqueezeCommander: solved, hooray!

Great job on speeding up the Artwork Sync: takes only a few seconds now
:-D

hmmm. very odd. I didn't have any suggestions beyond xlinx, but good to
hear that that eventually worked. I've had to do xlinx reset once in the
last couple of years on my transporter, but then again, it never gets

I guess the lesson is forget about the dusting in future and just keep

confidence with Logitech, particularly as I am still waiting to hear
from their technical support. Still, its a good job it sounds so good

It's also missing a lot of stuff. (By that I mean albums.)

It is, however, free. Other tools can help you with the art on other

The Search mechanism here seems not to search on the userid field (a

I know that I can see this by looking through all the threads, and
