 Christian,

I have some connection/reconnection issues with the latest version.
When opening up the app it sometimes takes a minute to connect to my
Sheevaplug. And it might even take more time populating the player list
after that. Also it seems that while managing players it sometimes loses
the connecting and goes back to the connecting... prompt. Interesting
enough it often helps if I switch the the official logi app (which has
no problem connecting and populating player list) and back to SC.
 Anything to try?

BTW it used to connect and populate the list in pretty much less than a
 second.

Just a quick update on my last post to confirm I am seeing BOTH of
these issues, after all.

That is, it takes along time to connect to the server and display
players and I am also loosing connection to my server frequently. Until
recently I had no problems with this.

Since I have not changed anything as far as my network or server is
concerned and all my SqueezeBoxes still work perfectly I suspect one of
the recent SqueezeCommander updates.

Re: [slim] Android Controller App

2011-11-21 Thread Michael Herger
It fixes the rotation thing -- it orients itself depending on how I'm
holding it, like I'd expect -- so looks good that way. One bug I did
notice, though, is that on the Now Playing screen, if you tap the
album/track/artist information up at the top, the resulting dialog box
is hidden behind other UI elements so can't be interacted with. Not
sure if that's a regression or if that's a totally unrelated bug.

Thanks. It's a regression:
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17567

Only last week I've found a way to reproduce it. Hopefully I'll find a fix
soon.

2011-11-21 Thread Gilles2

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83106

Question: What's your highest priority

- More images of your music collection
- More Screensafers
- Better player syncing
- Mysqueezebox.com - Player Switching
- Better Search
- Drag'n'Drop for the playlist
- TrackStat Ratings
- IRBlaster integration
- Big Screen with Album Covers for selection
- Something else

There are good examples available in vaious players like the VU meters
or others. Would love to see some of those (or other creative ideas)
implemented in SqueezePad

I've used 7.5, 7.6, 7.7 with MSE and apart from the *.my* exceptions

Very true and it doesn't even need to be physical cable cut. Services
come and go based on business decisions like Napster ending services in
Canada next month.

But I also think it is silly to worry about such things if you
genuinely have an interest in using such services. You can take that

What if

- my TV antenna gets blown off my roof

- my gas goes out (cut line, shut off, whatever)
- my electric goes out (cut line, shut off, brown out, whatever)
- my local cell tower shuts off

you could drive yourself mad concerning yourself with so many
dooms day prophecies. But none of them would impact my decision to
avail myself of such services.

Or, closer to your heart, I like the idea of LMS + MonkeySqueeze +
MediaMonkey but there is always the chance that MonkeySqueeze might not
be updated in the future to Win9 or OSX22, so I won't use it (enjoy it)
in the mean time. ;)

MySB is always available, the issue you are having is how to connect to
it. ;)

If you were using a Duet Controller this would not be an issue. All
other SB players, other than the Duet Receiver you are using, have
their own screen to make this switch.

LMS only needs to be running in your case because you are not using the
Duet Controller. AS to why (if?) the official Logitech Android app does
not offer this switch, you will have to ask Logitech, I dunno. I know
there is a third party Android app that will do this, but you will have
to pay for that one (guessing $10).

For me the two co-exist nicely, I probably listen to my local music 75%
of the time then spotify most of the rest and a small % of internet
radio, I used to use LastFM heavily before that became subscription

Spotify is used for trialling new music, user playlists and the
occasional ad hoc album/song I don't have in my collection.

[slim] 7.7. Music library scan all messed up

2011-11-21 Thread jimwillsher

Hi all

Something very odd is happening with 7.7. All has worked fine for
years, up to and including 7.6.x, but 7.7 has gone loopy. Clicking an
Artist in the GUI takes me to music completely unrelated to that
artist. I've done a clear and rescan but the same happens.

If a picture paints a thousand words then please watch this short
video.

Whatever you do about a touch, keep the SB3 - I think you'll regret it
if you get rid. I've had every player aside from Boom since the start

visuals are just right. The touch is ok (I have 3), but it's overly
complex and less stable than the SB3. SB3's seem to hold their value
for a reason..

Re: [slim] Thank you Slim Devices.

2011-11-21 Thread yeomanspc

The original SLIM guys had a vision and it's actually stood the test of
time well. I still have a couple of SLIMP3's being used as well as
every other box except boom, now in every room in the house except
batroom! (yep, garage, shed, hall, conservatory etc.). To my mind, the
SB3 was an excellent device with no hassle. Logitech have tried to make
the devices more capable and complex recently, but maybe a cut-price
simple device where you don't have to be a geek or a nerd to make it
all work would sell well. I know a few folk who gave up on Touch's and
bought instead all SB3's for their simplicity (and they just work). I
don't think the players are in their twilight - with the new Android
and IOS apps as controllers I believe they have a new lease of life.

Re: [slim] Announce: Whitebear Media Server v2.2 Released

2011-11-21 Thread Wigster

My server is an Atom machine, so it is slow. I guess that's probably
fine then. I didn't realise that the CPU intensive part was on the side
of Whitebear and not the WMP client.

OK, I have deleted the WMP cache again and logged the whole process of
creating a new one. It's about 67 Mb zipped up to 7. I have put it on
my public dropbox, I'll PM you the details.

If you want to search for an album with dupes (it is always that either
all the tracks in a album are duped, or none is), search for anything by
the Concretes. All their three albums are duped in the UPnP library in
WMP.

Another thing I have noticed: when I try to render m4a files on the
Squeezebox which are either local on the DLNA controller machine or
being served by WB, they in fact are stuck on repeat: the tracks never
progress by loop, until I press the next track button. Other file
formats are perfectly fine.

Thanks!

Re: [slim] Thank you Slim Devices.

2011-11-21 Thread sc53

Just spent a whole afternoon into early evening yesterday reading
newspapers and articles with my SB3 playing into my big system (with
the Electrocompaniet DAC and integrated amp). I made all my selections,
playlists and repeats from my iPhone using iPeng. I read a Stereophile
article about an old Steve Earle album, and immediately pulled it up on
my SB3 to listen to it while reading. It was like being able to click a
highlighted link in the article--instant music. I was thinking, after
several hours of this, how amazingly easy it was and how enjoyable. I
had meant at some point to start playing some new jazz LPs I had, but
never got around to it because the SB3 experience was just so easy and
relaxing, and to play LPs I'd have to jump up every 15 mins or so and
clean the record, flip it, etc etc. Wow the difference from the good
old days.

Re: [slim] 7.7. Music library scan all messed up

2011-11-21 Thread Archimago

Interesting video! Not experienced this problem myself and for me 7.7
scanning is working properly whereas 7.6 messed up badly for me.

I once had issues like this with the database in the 7.5 era however.
Turns out I had been fiddling around with the SQL settings and messed
things up.

If you upgraded from 7.6, have you tried a *fresh* reinstall of 7.7?
Uninstall, erase the C:\Program Files\Squeezebox directory to make
sure all's gone, then reinstall 7.7.

Good luck!

Looks like it's pulling up a bunch of compilation albums. Is that every
compilation album in your library, or just a part of them?

Re: [slim] 7.7. Music library scan all messed up

2011-11-21 Thread JJZolx

Actually, it's this bug:

Albums Not credited to Album Artist
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17542

The problem is that when you browse into the artist 'Art Garfunkel', he
appears on a compilation album. That album should be with the artist
'Various Artists' beneath it. When you click the artist name 'Art
Garfunkel' it takes you to 'Various Artists' albums, not 'Art
Garfunkel' albums. It's linking to the correct place, but the artist
name shown for the album is wrong. Then when you get to the album list,
the breadcrumbs shown are also wrong, displaying the bad artist name.

Lots of little new bugs in 7.7 to go with all of the old unresolved 7.6
bugs.

2011-11-21 Thread jimwillsher

Well spotted :-) Yes it does seem to be that bug.

I never experienced it in 7.6.x but it's certainly there now and it's
quite a nuisance.

Cheers,

Jim
