Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Orange Squeeze 1.0 for Android Released
Hi I have the same problem as Castalla. The newest version worked fine a few times (I really don't remember if it only worked one time). But now it wont connect to the server, it seems to be connected, there is no wheel turning and if I look at the switch server setting it says it is connected. Then I killed the new version and started the old version 1.2.9, and this version is working fine, it connects without problems. (And all these problems have nothing to do with my previously reported wifi problems, as the wifi was working fine in the present experiment). I will send you a logcat file recorded during the above mentioned experiment. So in the first part of the logcat file, I have started Orange 1.3.0 (newest version) and tried to connect to my server (called Voyage) - as it did not connect, I killed orange 1.3.0, and started 1.2.9 wich connected fine to my server Voyage. Hope you can see something in the logcat file. castalla wrote: In future, are applets likely? If not, then another good reason not to update. There is no technical reason why Smart Radio can't support 3rd party applets, but at this point Logitech have decided that they do not wish to support this. So if you want to continue to use the BBC Radio and other applets, please keep your radio as a Squeezebox as it will be more flexible and able to continue to use applets such as BBC Radio. Re: [slim] SBT won't connect to Mysqueezebox.com
While in the advanced settings check the server info menu for all pings and ip's etc . I recently had an oddity with my Radio it claimed that it was unregistered on mysqueezebox.com ? In fact it was not ,the site cheerfully claimed that the player was registered , the symptom the connect to mysqueezebox.com menu just bumped . It was working perfectly otherwise connecting via my local server and could use all it's app's ? but no direct connection . Tried different things ,but ended up deleting it from my account and factory resetting my Radio and re-register it ? This kind of thing have never happend to me before but could be a leftover from last weeks server meltdown ? This is the one that really suprised me. As I stated I may be off base. There are a LOT of variables that can affect why the tags might not be recognized. To me, it's perfectly valid to start by making sure the user is running the absolute latest version of the software. If the user IS already running the latest version and is savvy enough to know that then they can simply state that in response to the suggestion from the support specialist and pursue troubleshooting from that point. I'm not sure I see the point in beating up on Logitech here. Their responses *could* have been more thorough and technical, but when you're providing tech support you can't assume the user is technical or interested in a potentially long dialog to really find the source of the problem. You're usually better off assuming they're not technical and the suggestion provided by Logitech will probably fix the problem in a large percentage of the cases, right out of the gate, without demanding any more of the user. azinck3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3967 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97344 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Buffering problem with Duet
I have a duet and boom in the house and the boom works 100% fine but the duet is suffering from re-buffering problems that are confounding me. In most cases the Duet and Boom are tuned to a BBC Radio 4 stream (the same config) and the Boom never chokes but the Duet does periodically and by periodically I mean it can go long periods without any issue but when it hits a trouble period it tends to re-buffer frequently (as much as once per minute or so). Let me tell you what I know/think: - WiFi signal strength to both Boom and Duet are pretty strong although Duet is slightly stronger (so I don't think it's WIFI signal-to-noise ratio) - To optimise WiFi I did scan for neighbourhood interference and did change channels to optimise. Again, don't think it's the WiFi signal to the wireless base station where the problem is happening. - I saw somewhere in this forum that you could turn on a display to show buffering information. Turns out that's only on the Boom (which has a display) not the duet. The display is a bit confusing and so far it hasn't helped me ... I can get more specific but for now I'm assuming this is more of a distraction - Today there was a bad patch where the re-buffering problem was happening so I switched the radio to play some local iTunes music and the problems disappeared. I tuned back to BBC Radio 4 and the problem returned. During this same time the Boom was tuned to BBC Radio 4 the whole time and never had a problem. - The Boom and Radio are getting their signal from different WiFi routers but are on the same network (e.g., 192.168.1.x) and all other devices behave exactly the same running off both routers. For my sanity (and my wife's) could someone help us figure out how to troubleshoot this further? Ken p.s. does anyone know if the Duet has a smaller internal buffer than the Boom? k...@ken.net's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37195 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97350 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Buffering problem with Duet
I had a similar problem when using qobuz plugin, duet and transporter would badly buffer. On some advice I found on this forums I have changed MP3 streaming method for the player from Direct Streaming to Proxied Steaming and it worked, even when qobuz plugin was streaming in flac... I believe this somehow increased (or created) a buffer size on the server for the player. I've set this up via server settingsplayeraudio matka's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34878 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97350 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Buffering problem with Duet
Looks promising. I had noticed that under Advanced Network Radio Station Buffer (seconds) I could move the setting but it seemed to have zero impact, maybe I needed to switch to proxied streaming as you suggest for that to make a difference. Anyway, will give this a try and report back on how it works in the next day or two. BTW, I've currently only set the Duet to proxied as this is the only one behaving badly ... does anyone what the effect of having one in proxy and the other in direct and the two devices synchronized? I'll play around with this a little too. matka wrote: I had a similar problem when using qobuz plugin, duet and transporter would badly buffer. Re: [slim] Replacement for a Boom
Actually the Radio alarm has been very reliable for me for a long time now. I had early issues with the alarm- changed my alarm sound to a local mp3 file (on LMS) and only a couple times got Radio's built in sound. Also, if you run on battery you get the battery backup you indicated- if you lose power the Radio will shut down but will wake itself prior to the alarm. Which format are you playing the BBC stream AAC or WMA ? If it is AAC - then the LMS will be transcoding to Flac and you may be having network or processor loading problems. If it is AAC then proxy or buffer settings changes won't be effective. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97350 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
