Hi
I have Win XP SP3 on Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP m/board with Intel E8400 4 GB
DDR 800.
Yesterday I used Windows Update (as usual) to download latest updates -
both critical optional).
Since then I can get no internet whatsoever ! All browsers just give
non-connected screens.

It sounds as if you are using Music Folder, which is probably the slowest of
browse methods, especially for someone with a lot of objects in the folder. So
if you don't have the B folder further divided into sub-folders such as Jeff
Beck, Beatles, etc. then you are really shooting yourself in
If your files are properly tagged and organized with LMS running on a
decently powered computer your Search results should be very snappy.

Maybe I should try uninstalling those updates ?

Tried the Repair Connection option? Just right click the little

I'm on XP SP3 with all updates and it's working fine.

You may want to try removing AV/Firewall software and see if it

Yes, tried repair (see original post). No joy. Also router reboot. One

Yes, try wired connection first to make sure it's not the router. Do you
have other devices that work fine through the router?
Other things to try:
- reboot into safe mode and see whether wifi works there
- try to download and install a wifi driver from your manufacturer.

I'm using an Asus RT-N66U for its WiFi performance and its dedicated AP
mode (I'm using it in addition to my main router).

My syntax may be a bit off have no win machine near me at the moment .
Possibly gateway ip address has not been set up.
Run ipconfig in a command prompt window and look at interface subnet
mask and gateway address and see if they are sensible.
If unsure how to read it - copy the output to a file (e.g. ipconfig
output.txt ) and attach it to a post
Try to ping your router with cmd window .
But ipconfig should tell you basics such that if have a DNS etc .

Do the aiff files have any tags ? that would enable LMS to built a
proper dB when scanning and the much faster artist / album / genre menus
would start working properly .
But they rely on proper metadata in the files themself .
and search to uses the dB it probably eventually go for file names
