Those are all very valid arguments, Castalla.
What I meant to say is that loosing mysqueezebox.com should not
necessary be a show stopper for most Internet radio listening. For sure
you would loose some benefits in terms of management and easy of use but
for most parts Internet radio would still work.
There is also still the Squeezebox's own Internet radio station
listings. These would also continue to work without mysqueezebox.com.

Yes. Even 7.8 does. The integration you can opt out is mostly about

Correct, no MySB.com account needed to use these Internet Radio menu's.
Never needed a MySB.com account for these to work. These are supplied
via TuneIn. I presume absent both MySB.com *and* LMS 7.8 these menus
will not work as this does use MySB.com in the background (portal to
TuneIn).

Hmm. Thought I understood this, but maybe it's just a matter of rephrasing.

Let's assume mysb.com goes away.

At that point, assuming I'm using a recent 7.8 build, will the Tunein app on my
Radio still function as expected?

I realize I can always save individual URLs as favorites, but Tunein itself
provides very nice browsing functionality, access to saved favorites on your
Tunein account, and station/program artwork. Michael, I had thought the work
you did not too long ago was done expressly to handle this situation, making
the app work through the locally running LMS 7.8 server rather than have it
proxy through mysb.com. Is that correct?

Tunein.com is a massive list of online streams. The Squeezebox app shows up for
the Radio and iPeng, I'm guessing the Touch, less sure about other/older
players. Provides access to Tunein.com through a nice menu-based GUI on the
player. Tunein also sends back artwork for the player to display, similar to
what you'd get on the web site or in the Tunein iOS/Andriod app.

TuneIn is the service providing the Internet Radio menu. If you have
used that menu, then you have used TuneIn already. By creating a TuneIn
account you can access your fav stations from all their implementations

It is a bit expensive because it is also usable in medical applications

That 12v 2.5W PSU at Mouser works out at a total of €43.37 !

I've realised that the Radio PSU is 18v and has the same sized barrel
connector and, although it's only 1.0 amp the Boom seems to sound OK
with.

Not much of a solution though.

I can't seem to find anyone whom can sell me a single 18v 1.67 amp

seems to have a barrel plus with an outside diameter of 5mm (and no, I
am not able to work out what the internal diameter is!).

Bit of a bummer really.

Re: [slim] Setting up my system (2 x Touch Mac Mini)

2014-01-07 Thread Beech

Hi everyone and happy new year to you all! I'm sorry for my delayed
response but over the holiday I decided to revisit my system after
reading some of your comments. The very first thing I noticed was that
somehow I had updated LMS to 7.7.2 I never meant that to happen as it
does not work with Mac OSX 10.4. I discovered this ages ago so I guess
an autoupdate must have taken place. Anyway, I'm back with 7.5.5 again
and things are much faster. I also made one less folder on the music
drive so now the path is:

Music drive / Alphabetically labeled folders / Artist name folders /
Album name folders and with these are the .aiff files and a cue log plus
a .jpeg of the artwork.

I also removed another couple of folders that contained hi-rez
needledrops which I still have to decide what to do with but that's for
the future.

So, there's really only two things bugging me now. One is the way the
Iomega Ultramax drive takes so long to wake up. It also has a fan that
never stops running. Is there a better option to this?

Also, for the life of me I can't stop LMS asking if I want to update the
software. I have set the preferences to Not To Update.

By the way, Aubuti asked about my system - it's a Mac Mini running OSX
10.4.11 with a 133GHz PowerPC Processor (not exactly a Ferrari, I know).
There's 1 GB of ram in it.

Thanks to all.

Have you have checked the price using the UK Mouser site and not the
Euro one - IIRC their delivery costs to UK are about £12,

I don't think you can sort by bitrate unless Erland has created a plugin
for it.

Re: [slim] Thinking about my Squeezebox/LMS future

2014-01-07 Thread Michael Herger

What then does the Radio (v1.0) plugin do?

All our music service implementations come with a small plugin to
interface LMS with our backend. It eg. provides hooks for LMS to get
metadata for a service.

Does Radio Search also search TuneIn?

Radio _IS_ TuneIn. The only difference to the app you find in the Apps
menu is that the latter would use the TuneIn icon and (not 100% sure
about that) on 7.7 it would show your TuneIn favorites menu.
