Re: [slim] Pitastic
Thanks for documenting this. I wonder, as the CPU is practically doing nothing, it is probably throttled back to 600MHz most of the time. The periods of increased speed are so short it is not captured by temperature sampling period. Re: [slim] Pitastic
I tried to find an underclocking speed that would make my 4B 4GB perform similarly to my 3B+. It's very difficult to find a test that eliminates all the variables. I settled on a single oggenc job on a 90-minute flac file, as I figured that involved a bit of disk read and write, and a lot of CPU activity. I used the same hard disk on both machines, and I used a USB2 socket on the 4B so as to match the 3B+. On the 3B+ the task took 11m 07s. On the 4B at the standard 1500MHz it took 4m 13s - quite an improvement. I had to underclock the 4B to 600MHz to get that time up to 10m 12s - still 9% faster than the 3B+. The temperature conditions were far from equal, so the only thing I can tell is that underclocking the 4B does lower the temperature, but only by a couple of degrees. The 3B+, sealed inside the official case without a heatsink or fan, got up to 63 degrees during this task. The 4B, mounted inside my amplifier enclosure (powered down, so at room temperature) with a 40mm heatsink and no fan, got up to 57 degrees at 1500MHz, and 55 degrees at 600MHz. So the surprising things for me were: 1) the 4B is very much faster than the 3B+ at this task with their default clock speeds 2) the temperature savings by underclocking the 4B are minimal So I shall be running my 4B at the default 1500MHz, and based on these and earlier tests I'm happy that the conditions inside my amplifier are fairly kind to the 4B. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110690 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Delete Genres
Have now changed the tags in the other half (in fact was two different albums - 1 Afro Beat and the other (alphabetically later) Afro beat). Doing another clear and rescan So - I think I have found the issue that made me see the same problem and will resolve it by tidying tags. The underlying problem might never be fixed though given there is an easy way around it. Next step is to see if this explains the original poster's issue. Re: [slim] Delete Genres
I've just been through the "Afro Beat" tracks ... and half were tagged (MP3 ID3 TCON) as "Afro Beat" and half as "Afro beat" ... so leads me to think that LMS treats the case of the genre as significant when extracting the details and creating a Genre table in the database (I have not checked that there is one) but when assigning a genre to a track in the database it does a case-insignificant check and always finds the same one (perhaps the first created is returned first) ... "A Capella" is a recognised numbered ID3 genre but perhaps OPs tracks are tagged with "A capella" in text and also the number ... resulting in similar issue. Re: [slim] Delete Genres
My only other one with differences only in case are "Rock/Pop" and "Rock/pop" ... the first has tracks in and the other does not. So my suspicion is towards some sort of normalisation going on - but not all of the code knowing that it happens. I'll do a clear and rescan later to see if either of them disappear and look for a tool to display the genres from the original files as they are really stored. Re: [slim] creating a current playing display
I tried a different take on this, casting the web interface, in this case the Now Playing of the Material skin, to the Google Nest Hub. The word to note here is the "casting" bit, my home automation controller (Homey) allows me to cast a web page to a specific Chromecast player, but I'm sure there are software available to be run on our servers that can achieve the same thing. The key is that it's the server that initiates this instead of you pointing your display to a specific source. In many cases I think this can be beneficial, perhaps the community can come up with more ideas based on this. One thing to remember is that this particular setup can not be both controller and player. I can use the castbridge plugin to play on the device, but that stream will replace the stream with the control interface and vice versa. Perhaps this could be solved if it was integrated in the same plugin, but as the sound from this device is far from exciting, I don't care. Anyway, I got a tidy interface on my device with minimal tinkering. 27887 +---+ |Filename: hub_control.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=27887| +---+ alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110757 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I don't want to 'necropost' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?98618-How-to-delete-a-Genre-tag) so I opened this new. I have a new installation of LMS. At the top of the genre list I see "A capella" and "A Capella". The latter is empty and I don't remember tagging anything with this genre. Could it be that this genre is included in a initial install? If so, is it possible to remove this? Thanks oh, and yes I did a clean and rescan, before posting this. Re: [slim] LMS not appearing in Media Streaming view Windows 10 Pro
Not sure why you would using LMS to view your photos & music? I can view my photos & movies on my TV that are stored on my PC. The easiest way is to enable DLNA server in windows 10. Here's how > https://winaero.com/blog/how-to-enable-dlna-server-in-windows-10/ This will give you a 'basic' view on your TV of your PC shared folders. By basic I mean just the filename is displayed. If you want a nicer interface, then something like Plex would be good.
