Power supply on its last legs perhaps. Dodgy WiFi boards in the SB3 has
caused a few problems here and there also, if you can live with a wired
conection you could try removing the WiFi board.

You might want to try doing a Xilinx reset. Power off (pull plug) and
then when powering up agin you press the 1 button on the remote.

Probably not related to any problem on the mysqueezebox end as such, but
it seems the server has some connectivity problems. Tried to restart the
server and ensured that it can connect to mysqueezebox?

Must have been, they're there now (at least for US, UK and Sweden which
I considered a sample big enough)

With a netbook there's the standard web ui. Or if the netbook is running

Or Squeezeplay perhaps which should work well on a netbook I guess.

I've also noticed this clock inaccuracy over the last week or two. My
SB3 is connected to mysqueezebox, in particular the notoriously shaky
german server. There's also been quite a few dropouts in connection
recently (displays message about not being able to connect to server)

would try by disabling any

Spotify currently isn't offered. Alright, they may technically still be
interested in streaming Spotify, but the lack of support in SB isn't
the acutal hurdle.

has a fair amount of margin. Cable quality in
particulat could be an issue that is difficult to check, I recently
read of someone who had to redo all the wiring in a new house since the
cheap CAT6 cable he bought was so way off spec that it hardly worked at
all.

Set up the universal remote with JVC DVD player IR codes.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you need the Squeezebox
server for that to work. I'm not sure the SB itself can handle those
codes during initial setup.

is that
electrically the data in each direction run on separate pairs in a TP
cable when running in normal 10 and 100 Mbit modes. Hence, only one
transmitter and one transceiver in each direction for each segment.

version were you running before? Between 7.4.x and 7.5.x
there should not be any new FW for the SB3. Since most users have been
running that version since september whithout much grief I don't think
it's that clear cut who is the culprit.
--

But 7.5.0 did not contain any firmware upgrade for the Boom so your
conclusion seems a bit off the mark. The problems reported in the
thread you refer to were most likely caused by the MySB instability
that occurred last week.

I fail to se why the lower bitrate would be less reliable, rather it
should be less sensitive to wireless dropouts and other intermittent
problems. So I guess I would try a lower bitrate if I got rebuffering
problems due to slow and/or dodgy internet connection.

If you've had them connected to a mysqueezebox/squeeze network account
at some point they should be deleted from said account so the new
owners can create new accounts without hassle.

My experience from other forums of this type is however that they don't
work well for advertising. I'm sure there are exceptions, but so far I
haven't seen any.

I just don't see the conflict here. Why would the sky fall down and the
world come to an end if SBS was extended to support video files and a
video player was added to the line of boxes?

Hold the left arrow key pressed until you reach the root menu for the
box, takes quite a few seconds. Navigate down to settings and change the
language to your preference.

, installed Squeezeplay, configured Squeezeplay to
use the SB3 as player, installed the Queen app. Using Squeezeplay I
added the album to the playlist and started playing. After that I could
control the SB3 using its remote. Perhaps one or two of those steps
could be omitted, YMMV.
