No Unix experience, but I have found that using PCMCIA or CARDBUS with eSATA
is sub-optimal. The interface will only allow up to speeds up to USB 2.0spec.

Are you by any chance using ReadyBoost?
There have been some reports that Quicktime and ReadyBoost do not work well
with each other. As a test can you the USB FLASH or disable it.

A prompt to allow the installation to run at the administrative or
elevated level.
At the very least you would have received a dimmed screen and a continue
prompt.

Please note the double quotes in the first command line.
The problem is likely related to your virus scanning software.
Some scanners appear to have problems releasing the file in a timely
manner.
See if you can tell your scanner software to skip or ignore files with the
MYI or MYD extension.

3. Make sure All Virus and Spyware scanners are disabled
4. Delete all files and folders in C:\Windows\Temp
5. CD C:\Program File\Slimserver\server

The default install of MS Vista Beta 2 turns on the media sharing capibilities of Windows Media Player
I suspect it is doing the same type of thing the XBOX 360 is.

Are both your Music and Playlists folders the same? It's possible the folder scan and playlist scan are creating the duplicates.
