Hi, I am a bit behind the times and only just became aware of the Community Squeeze and Wandboard projects this morning. I tried searching but couldn't find the answer to the following question ... Can the Wandboard output the audio over HDMI to my receiver? I understand that it can send the UI over HDMI for display on the big screen. But my receiver has powerful DACs and can decode dozens of formats, including multi-channel. It would be nice to one day have all my downloaded and CD/DVD/DVDA/SACD/Blu-ray ripped music playable via Community Squeeze. [slim] Play to SqueezeBox from Windows?
I have a SqueezeBox Touch and my son has a SqueezeBox Radio. LMS runs on my PC where my music library is located. My son has his own PC but does not run LMS. He has his own music on his PC, and when he wants to play it on his Radio or my Touch he just right-clicks on a music file and selects Play to Son's Radio or Play to Dad's Touch. WTF? I have no idea how he managed to get this working, and, it turns out, nor does he. What application or plugin would enable such a handy context menu? He is running Windows 7. We figured it out. It's Windows Media Player. WMP can send files straight to any Squeeze player visible on the network. Very cool. Here's another wish ... If the volume is set to locked at 100% then the volume control at the bottom of the now-playing screen is a bit useless. I have a request. I am probably in the minority and it is not a critical issue, so I will understand if I am not given high priority. In the main now playing screen I would like to have a popup with the following controls only: Previous track, Play/Pause, Progress bar, Next track. Currently there is one control popup at the bottom with Power, Prev, Play/Pause, Next, and Volume Control. At the top there is a popdown with Loop, Progress Bar, Shuffle. Since I want a little from each I end up with both the popup and the popdown and my cover art gets obscured a little. Also, the popdown tends to hide itself too easily. So I guess this is another request for customization. Configurable controls for the now playing screen. I have no need for Loop, Shuffle, Power or Volume on that screen. However, I do realize that other users may want some/all of these. I also have a few cover arts are not square. Some are tall and thin, some are short and fat. When I first tried it I got no sound at all from FLAC files. Then I tried an MP3 which worked fine. After that, all FLAC and MP3 files now work fine. However, only 16-bit files (44.1 and 48 kHz) seem to work. When the 7.5.2 MySB upgrade happened I also had problems. However, it was not in SqueezeCommander. When I went into Diagnostics on the Touch it showed that it was Not Registered with MySB. I had to delete the Touch from the Player screen on MySB, do a factory reset on the Touch and re-enter my credentials to get it registered again. I have the Touch which has its own screen, but I sit 12 feet (3.6 meters) away from it and it's a bit small. I also have SqueezeCommander on my Android phone with a nice screen. This is easy to see, but it drains my battery if I want to have the screen on all the time. I could drag my laptop with me every time I want to listen to music, but that is much less convenient than a remote or a phone. Now I have this huge 55-inch TV between the speakers that is dark while I play music. When I try to connect to MySqueezebox.com SqueezeCommander tells me I have no player connected. What could the problem be? I just got a new Samsung Captivate and this was my first app that I bought. It is awesome. You should see how gorgeous it looks on this wonderful AMOLED screen. Not specific to your app maybe, but I was pleasantly surprised at how fast and easy it was to get it. OK I have been reading on the interwebs about SACD and ripping. I think I am going to boycott the format. Unfortunately my protest will not be making much of an impact since the only disc I was interested in was Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. When you pause a song or skip to the next song, the volume is cut off very abruptly.
