Re: [slim] Android Controller App
Michael, I added the log capture to the bug report as requested. The failure seems to be related to interpreting the port from the UDP discovery response packet. -- NaterGator NaterGator's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Android Controller App
Michael, Any further news on Ice Cream Sandwich support: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17792 ? Any hope a fix will be released by Christmas? I am giving my father a new Squeezebox for Christmas and he has an ICS phone. He will be really bummed if he can not control it. -- NaterGator NaterGator's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I'm sorry to say there won't be any release before Christmas. I first have to get an ICS phone to verify your issue. -- Michael If I can be of any help I am an experienced developer and I have an ICS phone. There is also the ICS emulator available. Either way thanks for the update. -- NaterGator NaterGator's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Also: how does wlan work in airplane mode?!? I thought that was all radio stuff turned off? -- MichaelI am positive beyond a shadow of a doubt. Without changing anything at all (re: radios/networks) the Squeeze Commander app sees the Duet receiver without a hitch. In airplane mode all radios are set to off, but you can manually enable wifi leaving the cell radio off while in airplane mode. mherger;678336 Wrote: There is also the ICS emulator available. Either way thanks for the update. The emulator's problem is that it's running in its own virtual network. It can't detect servers, as there can't be any in its LAN. Can you grab some log output with adb? I think there should be some information about the discovery process when you bring up the player selector. Look for information about SlimDiscovery and UDPSocket. -- Michael I would be happy to get a logcat capture for you, however I traveled home for the holiday and am thus about 150 miles away from the affected squeezebox. I can test the squeeze radio on Christmas day after my dad opens it though... otherwise I will test when I return home. -- NaterGator NaterGator's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86487 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

pablolie;342711 Wrote: i am hopeful that we shall get a solution or at least a good workaround soon, the development team is excellent once they get a critical mass of people reporting a problem. ... but based on the urgency this thread displays, i now fully trust that the developers now know that something is a bit fishy in the controller's wireless feature implementation. Two things: 1) I can think of a way to help track this problem down -very- quickly. Release the source code for the DHCP client on the SBR and SC. Trust me, I'd be more than happy to step through the code line by line and find any potential problems. There are probably plenty of others who can and will do it too. More eyes = quicker fix. 2) There are multiple issues, some not being addressed. Specifically, I do _not_ have a problem with my controller, I have a problem with my receiver losing it's connection after inactivity. The controller will reflect the receiver's status with a blue light in the bottom of the screen, but it is actually on the network and responds to pings, unlike the receiver. Then there are people getting red icons on the controller, which is what this thread seems to be about, and seems like _another_ major issue. Either way, I'm happy the devs are willing to acknowledge that this many users aren't crazy and something is going on. I'd just like to see a bit more communication on the issue (ex: do the two devices share a common networking API?) -- NaterGator NaterGator's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=52702 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeeze controller losing network connection
Gentoo user here; I'm having the same problems as everyone else. What I've noted is this: my controller almost never loses the connection, it just can't find the SB receiver to interface with (because it's using an incorrect IP). When the SBR does this, it gets the typical blue light on the front, does not respond to pings, etc. It typically goes into this fit if a Squeezecenter it was connected to (even while asleep) has been restarted or shut down. I'm so freaking tired of this and can't believe I paid $400 for a network music system that can't even hold a DHCP address. The fact that there's a 26 page thread on this should mean it is a top priority for the developers, but evidently it's not? None the less I'm going to peruse the source myself and see if I can find any obvious oversights that would be causing the SBR to ignore it's DHCP lease and autoconfigure itself an incorrect IP. A very frustrated new SB user. -Nate -- NaterGator NaterGator's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45031 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
