Squeezelite is now installed by default. It works much better then the
old mpd system.
VortexBox 2.3 is based on 32bit Fedora 20 but it should work in 64bit
vmware.

You could just split the power from the "wart" SATA hard drive usually
run on 5v so this should work well. The USB port should also have enough
power to run a laptop drive. Not sure about a full 3.5.

I just read a great article buy DIY audio blogger Stephen Sokolowski. He
tested VortexBox vs a modified Sonos vs a high end Windows based audio
player and VortexBox came out on top! But we always knew Squeezebox

I just added another link to a real POGO E02. It costs $2 more but you
know what your getting.

Yes the VAMP does play MOG. It can play SiriusXM, Pandora, and Spotify

The PogoPlug I'm using has a Marvell Kirkwood 1.2GHz (ARM) processor and
256 GB memory. You could run LMS on it if you wanted. I'm using
squeezeplug as a base OS so this would be very easy to do.
I never recommend running LMS on a unit like this becasue of problems
with rebuilding a your libary,
You may want to take a look at VortexBox. It has 5 built in players.
VortexBox is based on Linux but it has a web GUI so you don't need to
interface with Linux to get it working.

There has been a lot of discussion in this forum about a replacement for
the SqueezeBox. I worked on this problem over the holiday and I think I
came up with a good solution. Using a low cost ARM based system I was
able to build a box that basically does everything the SqueezeBox does
for under $3
There has been a lot of discussion on the replacement of Logitech Media
players with the UE product line. Logitech has released a program called
UE Music Library that is used for serving local music to the UE product
line. UE Music Library seems to be a VERY stripped down version of LMS.

Yes, you can definitely stream your FLACs to a Revue using the DLNA
server in VortexBox. DLNA is becoming the de facto standard for media

100m. If you have to use wireless you need a big antenna to get that
distance. Just pointing all the antennas toward one location doesn't do
anything but reduce the signal you get in other directions. you need a
directional antenna

Should be fine. You will need to read some docs of getting the external
drive mounted at boot time. I would still recommend having an internet
connection so you can also use steaming radio.
But if that's not an option a static IP address will work.
