I've always found FW updates to be flawless, and very well implemented.
A simple update of the squeezebox software follwed by a brightness
button. Surely infinitely simpler that some of the alternatives -
browsing to a URL, entering TFTP mode, FTPing a firmware etc.

You are correct that 7.5.4 has not been released yet. So for the time
being the options remain the same (listed in my personal order of
preference, YMMV):
a) update your SBS to 7.5.4 (beta), or
b) don't switch between SBS and mysb.com, or
c) continue to be annoyed.

I had been using SqueezeServer 7.5.4 which used firmware 133. I had
recently switched to 7.6.0 which used firmware 135. This morning I
updated SS 7.6.0 to the latest nightly r32268 which updated the
firmware to 136. Just out of curiosity is there somewhere that explains
what has changed from

I switch frequently mysbs - sbs and viceversa on my boom (I turn off
my pc server) and every switch there is a firmware upgrade/downgrade.

because it's no longer an issue. My vague recollection is that they
fixed the bug that was causing connectivity problems, so they wanted to

Hi,
When I switch source from mysqueezebox.com to SqueezeCentre, and vice
versa, my SB display turns black and then asks me to begin firmware
upgrade.
SB Model: Classic
SqueezeCenter version: 7.5.1 (says 7.5.3 is available for download)
SqueezeCenter reports that my SB has firmware version 130
Thats because mysb runs at 7.5.4 and that version needs another firmware
in the players. So when you switch to mysb it upgrades the players
firmware to 133 and when you switch back to SBS it downgrades the
players to firmware 130.
Its been like this always. If you want to avoid this then upgrade

It usually runs the same version as the latest officially released
version of SBS. At present there is an exceptional case where SBS is
still at 7.5.3 and MySB is at 7.5.4. That is why you need to go to
7.5.4, as recommended by Kuben72, to avoid the firmware
upgrade/downgrade when you switch

You have a SB2 that was modded and the mod 'corrected' the polarity on
output, which was due to a software bug in versions = 15 of the SB2.
Even then, it's dubious whether it is meaningful or not.

I just checked http://update.slimdevices.com/update/firmware/7.5.0/ to
see if any new fw for the SBC was present.
There is fw for devices called baby and fab4, also there is two
variations of the boom, _30 and _50 ?
Does anybody here know which devices this is, maybe the Radio and Touch
?

After upgrading to slimSqueezecenterserver or whatever its called now
V7.4.0, the firmware on my SB3 was changed to V103. After this the
display is now black and the unit does not respond to the remote. I can
control the SB from the web browser, play music etc, and the display

remote issue. After that the player didn't seem to respond to screen
saver settings, although even scrolling through the player information

After trying SC7, I decided I didn't like it (too slow on my low-power
server), so I uninstalled it and reinstalled SS6.5.
However, both Squeezeboxes were left at the 'New firmware' screen after
detecting SC7 and I couln't get them past it. Out of curiousity, I

After updating SlimServer to 6.5.4 on my XP machine, my Squeezebox went
into an endless loop of reporting successful download of new firmware
followed by an error Problem: update failed and a reset.
I've tried the obvious things below:
Moving it from wireless to ethernet
Factory reset of the SB3
Have you tried reprogramming the xilinx chip?
Try unplugging the power and holding the 1 button down on the remote
while plugging the power back in.

Held down '1' button and got the Xilinx reprogamming message.
The unit then booted up and notified me of a Software update (press
brightness button) and then after successful download got the same

By the way, SlimServer is reporting my player info as Player

I'm not sure what the exact process is for updating from SqueezeNetwork,
but while playing an Internet Radio station I held down the brightness
key until an upgrade download was forced. The download was successful
but the update failed again.
In the meantime I downgraded SlimServer on the PC to

replaced. Call support, tell them you already troubleshooted with me,
and unless they have any other ideas, get a replacement. Sorry for the

The firmware is automatically updated when you install and run the
latest version of Slimserver, so when you install 6.5.2 your Squeezebox
will automatically update to the firmware that came with it.

It gets the latest version from whatever you have on your computer.
If you look in slimserver/Firmware for 6.5.1 you will have
squeezebox2_72.bin
You have two choices:
- grab squeezebox2_81.bin and squeezebox2.version from 6.5.2 and place
them in this folder, or
- goto SqueezeNetwork/Pandora and

It tries to install 6.5.2 but stops b/c it can't replaced mysqld.exe
which is stopped as a service and exited from the sys tray.
Abort, retry, ignore. only option left to try is ignore.
