Thanks!
I tried net-udap directly, but I couldn't get it to work.
So I installed the squeezeconfig APK
(https://sourceforge.net/projects/lms-udap-utility/files/) on an old
android phone and was able to switch the SB3 to LAN.
Cheers!
This app will let you remotely configure your SB3. Read the first page

I also tried to program my xfinity remote with JVC codes, but none of
those worked.
I merely want to change my SB3 from wireless to wired, but can't figure
out to force the change without a remote.
Is there a way I can
Problem solved and SB3 fixed :)

Sure: the universal remote is a One for All Simpleset URC-7130 and the
code is the first JVC in the row: 0623.

My SB3 has been working great until the other day when it was totally

Bit of a cop out answer but have you tried factory resetting the SB?
I've lost count of the times various devices have been cured of weird
stuff like this by a reset or reboot.
Also if I remember correctly the SB3 has an additional reset for an
xlink reset that is worth a go if a factory reset

Sounds like batteries in the SB3 remote - I once had a similar remote
problem and replacing new batteries was needed as new batteries
weren't good for some reason.
You can check SB3 IR with a digital camera - IR light will appear white.
Check that remote IR lights with repeated key presses and

uses JVC DVD codes.

NO but I guess I could try to buy a universal remote. So anything that
supports JVC DVD players should be ok?

Use a cable for initial setup. Although the SSID is the same it is a
different network (MAC address) so SB3 will be confused. Change the
SSID. The net::Udap thingy can then be used via the cable to configure
the wireless.

I've got a Philips TSU9600 on which I'm using ProntoSqueeze. This uses

I would like to know if there are any shortcuts available using the

Any info greatly appreciated.

As long as you are *certain* your SB3 IR remote is dead, you can try
fixing it yourself.
Quite often the IR eye or transmitter at the end of the remote simply
needs to be re-soldered, especially if it has been dropped.
May as well crack it open and take a look before throwing it away. :)

The problem with the auto updates, you need to change the settings with

I just rolled back to 7.1 and it is working again.
I actually tried the button brightness cli command on 7.1 and it

Is there another name for the brightness button maybe?
