Re: [discuss] Everything seems fine, but simply doesn't work??

2007-03-16 Thread Roger Traill

Dear Bruce,

I had issues yesterday trying to do a webex conference using our
hospitals proxy server for internet access.

I could not get Authoxy to work nor could I get it to work entering
the proxy servers details in the proxy settings for Ethernet.
Fiddled a lost and found that if I added the details in Ethernet
adaptor (en2) and Ethernet adaptor (en3) it then worked. Any
thoughts as to the relevance of this information to you? Mind you I
changed so many things I am not precisely sure that these were the
key events.

Any ideas what these adaptors are or why they aren't present when I
am on my home Ethernet network?

Unless you have a specific reason I'd thoroughly recommend upgrading the
computer to 10.3.9. This is the latest Apple has released to and all updates
will only be installed if you are running this version, the newer version
runs everything much smoother with all the small bugs ironed out which may
also solve your problem! Don't forget Safari since this is your main issue
at the moment!

Thanks, David Moyle

Thanks for the quick reply :-) Having a read around it does look like there
are some problems with my version of OS X (10.3.2) and I would bet money on
the ISA server not being properly configured (and I'm ignoring the fact our
NetAdmin hates Macs/Unix/Linux).

I'm having some trouble locating the older versions of Authoxy though... I
can only seem to find the current release on the HRSoftWorks website and
I've had a look through SourceForge... please help! REALLY wanna get this
sorted.

Thanks!

Adam

Re: [discuss] Everything seems fine, but simply doesn't work??

2007-03-15 Thread Bruce Stephens

We have had the exact same problem - about 1 year ago now -
and I believe it depends on the OS X operating system version
that you are using...

We used to use authoxy under earlier versions of both
Window Server 2003(?) and 10.4.x where x < about 5

Now using an Intel macBook with 10.4.8/9 we no longer need authoxy
but we had authoxy 3.1.2 running on an iBook and the connection process
worked. We could never get authoxy 3.2.5Beta or 3.2.5 Final working with
our Windows system at all. Thats NOT saying that authoxy failed as the
Windows System management in this case relies heavily on mythology and
prayer and I doubt that its ever been set up correctly

I would try earlier versions, especially 3.1.2 which I found to be very
stable IN OUR situation. When removing authoxy, make sure you remove all
the parts installed(!!)

I still think authoxy is a great idea as it can be used to isolate
windows proxy transactions quite nicely but Safari was always temperamental.

Cheers,

Hi all,

I'm using an iBook to connect to our organisations ISA server to connect
to the internet. I've installed the latest version of Authoxy and
everything seems fine. I've filled in all the relevant information under
'Settings' and 'NTLM' and Authoxy's status is: 1 daemon running on
127.0.0.1 port 8080.

The problem is the ISA server reports that authentication has failed.
I've checked that Safari is using 127.0.0.1:8080 as its proxy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
